A 12-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a stabbing in Texas that left a woman hospitalized in critical condition, officials said.

The boy, whose identity has not been made public because of his age, has been charged with aggravated assault, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said on social media.

The charge comes after a 59-year-old woman was found with a stab wound at a residence on April Valley Court in Harris County shortly after 2 p.m.

She was subsequently transported to a hospital by life flight in critical condition.

Two boys, 12 and 7, were suspected of being involved in Saturday’s stabbing. Authorities said the brothers both fled the scene, but they were located later in the day.

“I’m sorry to the family. I’m very sorry that my sons committed the incident. And I’m praying for your health, for your wellness,” the mother told KPRC-TV.

Gonzalez said the 12-year-old was charged in the stabbing but that the seven-year-old was not culpable by law.

“I am very remorseful because I wouldn’t want that to happen to nobody,” the mother said. “We just gotta keep our prayers up for both my family and their family.

Child Protective Services have been contacted, the sheriff said.

The sheriff’s office previously said they believe the boys returned to the home on April Valley Court following a verbal confrontation with the woman.

“From what I’ve gathered, it was just a verbal altercation,” sheriff’s office spokesperson Sergio Torres told KPRC-TV on Saturday. “The female appeared to have several stab wounds to her abdomen area.

A neighbor said the woman’s brother ultimately found her inside her home.

“Her brother came and checked by just to check on her; he checks on her daily. At that point, he just came at the right time, opened the door, and saw she was stabbed,” Torres said, ABC13 reported.

The incident remains under investigation.

By day, Domonique Brown was a history teacher at Taylor Preparatory High School in the Detroit area, but in her off hours the educator worked as an aspiring rapper named Drippin Honey.

That is until she was let go from her job.

Brown told FOX 2 that a parent complained that she was a “bad influence” on her students because she’s a rapper, despite being voted teacher of the month in December.

She said she never received a complaint in writing and asked the administration, “Could we ask the parent to come in and see professionalism, see me in a classroom, see me after school, see me at all the games, see me dropping kids off every day, buying food, doing all these things? Can they come see me in my element before they try to say I’m unprofessional?

Brown said the parent remained anonymous and didn’t go into detail about what they found objectionable about her rapping.

“Music is part of the culture. We’re from Motown. This is what we do,” she added.

This week, after her firing, Brown posted a music video on her social media that she made with some of her students.

In the video, “Drippin 101,” Brown danced with her students and rapped about “Motown, baby, going crazy like the ‘80s.”

In a message alongside her video, Brown announced that she had been fired over her rapping, adding, “What troubles me most about this situation is the lack of consideration for the impact and influence I have had on my students’ lives.”

She continued, “My dedication, professionalism, and passion for education have always been unwavering, regardless of any personal pursuits I may have. It is worth noting that when I was hired as a teacher, my involvement in the music industry as a rapper did not hinder my candidacy. I was judged based on my qualifications, experience, and potential to positively impact the lives of my students. Yet, now, my commitment and contributions seem to be overshadowed by arbitrary judgments about my personal life.”

She said she has been teaching for seven years and has more than 200 signatures from students and parents who support her.

Taylor Preparatory High School didn’t immediately return Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

The school told FOX 2 in part: “Student well-being remains at the forefront of everything we do, and we will continue fostering a distraction-free teaching and learning environment focused on student success.”

Brown said she plans to take legal action against the school.

Nashville, Tennessee, police said on Friday they found the body of Riley Strain, a University of Missouri senior who went missing on March 8 after going out downtown.

Authorities said Strain’s body was recovered from the Cumberland River in West Nashville on the morning, about 8 miles from downtown. Police said on X that no foul play-related trauma was observed, and an autopsy is pending.

The 22-year-old finance student was visiting Nashville for his fraternity’s spring formal trip when he vanished. He had been out on Broadway drinking with friends at Luke Bryan’s downtown bar, called Luke’s 32, when staff asked him to leave.

Police say his phone pinged for the last time around Gay Street, part of which borders the Cumberland River.

Nashville police released a video of Strain greeting a police officer on Gay Street while the officer was checking parked vehicles for signs of a reported vehicle burglary just before the college student disappeared.

“Shown was Riley’s brief exchange of greetings w/ Officer Reginald Young on Gay St., south of the Woodland St. Bridge, on the night of 3/8. Riley did not appear distressed. Officer Young was there on a vehicle burglary call & remained on that portion of Gay St. for 45 min,” police said on X. “No video has been discovered that shows Riley away from Gay St after the 9:52 p.m. timeframe.”

Luke’s 32 said in a statement that bartenders served Strain one drink before staff asked him to leave.

“At 9:35 p.m., our security team made a decision based on our conduct standards to escort him from the venue through our Broadway exit at the front of our building,” the bar said in a March 15 statement. “He was followed down the stairs with one member of his party. The individual with Riley did not exit and returned upstairs.”

TC Restaurant Group indicated that they were working closely with authorities in the search for the missing college student.

After leaving the bar, Strain told his friends that he would head back to their accommodations at Tempo by Hilton, which is about five blocks away from Luke’s 32, as FOX 17 first reported.

When his friends did not see him again at their hotel later that evening, they filed a missing persons report, Strain’s cousin, Chelsea Strain, previously told Fox News Digital.

Strain’s family flew to Nashville and became involved in the search immediately after his friends reported him missing.

A body found in a river in West Nashville has been confirmed to be that of missing University of Missouri student Riley Strain, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department confirmed

“The body of Riley Strain was recovered from the Cumberland River in West Nashville this morning, approximately 8 miles from downtown,” police said on social media.

Police added that no “foul play-related trauma was observed” and an autopsy is pending. 

Strain, 22, disappeared while on a fraternity trip to Nashville, and was last seen on March 8, shortly after being kicked out of Luke’s 32 Bridge, a bar owned by country singer Luke Bryan.

In recent days, the search for Strain has focused on area waterways after his debit card was found along a Nashville river. Officials first focused on Cumberland River’s downtown section before expanding the search to include more of the river, including the Cheatham Dam, which is about 40 miles from downtown Nashville. The search has involved helicopters, boats and ground crews. Police also shut down the dam to inspect debris that floated to the surface, CBS affiliate WTVF reported.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department has been working with the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office to conduct downriver operations. The United Cajun Navy, a volunteer disaster relief organization, has also participated in the search. It’s not clear which agency found the body discovered.

The Cumberland River is a major waterway that runs over 680 miles through Kentucky and Tennessee. Multiple dams dot the river.

A Georgia couple was arrested after being found asleep on a Florida beach, with their children nowhere to be found, authorities said.

An anonymous caller in Daytona Beach reported the couple to 911 on Saturday, and it took a Volusia Sheriffs Office deputy multiple attempts to wake the two up, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital. They were later identified as Alyssia Langley and Timothy Stephens, both 27.

Body camera footage obtained by FOX 35 Orlando shows Stephens motioning towards the ocean after being asked by deputies where their kids were. The arrest affidavit noted that there was an open beer can found near Stephens’ hand, multiple empty beer cans and an empty bottle of whiskey in a cooler nearby, “and other various, unsealed alcoholic beverages in the immediate vicinity.”

“It just boggles my mind that you would drive here and get obliterated and allow a 5- and a 7-year-old to wander off,” Sheriff Mike Chitwood told the local station.

The two children were found swimming unsupervised but safe in a hotel pool nearby.

Langley Stephens were both arrested. The two are engaged to be married, FOX 35 reported, and the arrest affidavit says that Stephens is not the biological father of the children, but has “assumed a legal guardian role.” Stephens had to be treated at a hospital before being taken to jail after a failed attempt to escape from deputies caused him to face-plant on the ground.

“When we wonder what we see, why kids are the way they are, you gotta take a step back and look at who’s in charge. And clearly, these two clowns shouldn’t be in charge of … they can’t be in charge of themselves, let alone a 5-year-old or a 7-year-old,” Chitwood said.

Langley and Stephens were charged with child neglect. Stephens also faces charges for trying to escape and alcoholic beverages on the beach, according to online arrest records.

The heartbroken father of Laken Riley is opening up about his late 22-year-old daughter, who was gruesomely murdered while jogging on the University of Georgia campus in February.

In his first interview since her death, Jason Riley told NBC News that he’s found strength through the pain of his loss knowing Laken is “looking down on me,” but still wakes up “every day thinking I can call her and I can’t.”

“She was like an angel,” an emotional Jason shared to NBC’s Priscilla Thompson in the chat, which aired Monday on the Today show. “We were looking forward to seeing her graduate next year. She was so full of life. I just hate that she was taken so early

Laken — a nursing student at Augusta University’s campus in Athens, Ga. — was found with her skull “disfigured” on Feb. 22 when she failed to return home from a jog at the UGA Intramural Fields that morning. The Athens-Clarke County Coroner’s Office later confirmed to PEOPLE Laken died from blunt force trauma.

Jose Ibarra, 26, has been arrested in connection with her murder, and charged with several offenses including murder, kidnapping and assault. A Venezuelan migrant who entered the U.S. illegally in 2022, Ibarra was never deported despite a previous arrest in New York and a citation for shoplifting in Georgia

Since her killing, Laken’s case has become a flashpoint in the partisan debate over immigration, with both President Joe Biden and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump using it as an example as a need for stronger border control.

Asked if he felt that a stricter immigration policy would have made a difference, Jason told NBC News: “We have no idea if that would have changed anything, but he’s here illegally. He might not have been here had we had secure borders.”

Still, Jason warned against that conversation. “I feel like she’s being used somewhat politically. It makes me angry,” the grieving father explained. “She was much better than that. She should be raised up for the person that she is.”

Police have described Laken’s death as “a crime of opportunity.”

Ibarra has not yet entered a plea, but is demanding a jury trial in court documents, NBC News reported.

As he waits for justice in his daughter’s death, Jason revealed to Thompson that his sadness extends to Ibarra’s family too, whose lives have been forever changed. He said that if he sees the suspect’s mother, he hopes to give her a hug because he believes that’s what Laken would have done.

Cheryl Wheeler-Dixon (August 18, 1960 – February 12, 2020) was an American stunt woman, stunt double, and stunt driver in the US movie industry. She was credited as Cheryl Wheeler-Duncan, Cheryl Wheeler, Cheryl M. Wheeler, and Sheryl Wheeler. She was stunt double for Rene Russo, Kathleen Turner, and Goldie Hawn, among others. She had two daughters, and with her husband, Lindsey Duncan, owned Genesis Today, Inc., a nutritional supplement company in Austin, Texas and a multi-level marketing offshoot called Genesis Pure. Cheryl Wheeler-Sanders (Dixon) and her husband, Robert Reed Sanders, were shot and killed in an apparent shoot-out with her ex-husband, Lindsey Duncan, in Yellow Springs, Ohio on February 12, 2020.

Cheryl Wheeler began studying Yoshukai Karate at fifteen years of age in Pensacola, Florida, with instructor Gerry Blanck. She began kickboxing when her instructor began training an amateur team, but her championship matches were considered professional, as she was paid for the work. Wheeler-Dixon also studied Judo, Aikido, and grappling and trained for a while with kickboxer and actor Don Wilson. She was a three-time WKA World Kickboxing Champion with a record of 17-1-1 and a 2nd degree black belt in Yoshukai Karate.

Wheeler-Dixon began work in the film industry in 1987 and maintained an extensive filmography of stunt work in such films as Back to the Future Part II, Bird on a Wire, Die Hard 2, Lethal Weapon 3 and sequel Lethal Weapon 4, Demolition Man, The Thomas Crown Affair and Charlie’s Angels. She provided martial arts training to Rene Russo for the Lethal Weapon film series. Wheeler-Duncan was inducted into Black Belt Magazine’s Hall of Fame as 1996 Woman of the Year.[12] With Chris Casamassa, she appeared on the cover and in a feature article in Black Belt Magazine in July 1997 Wheeler-Dixon received a Stunt Award for “Best Stunt Sequence” in the 2000 film Charlie’s Angels.

Wheeler-Dixon was injured during the filming of Back to the Future II when she shattered her face and right wrist in a fall and required reconstructive surgery. In April 2010, she was featured on the cover and wrote an article for Healthy Living Magazine. She also worked as a “stuntnastics” instructor and stunt performer at The Stunt Ranch in Austin, Texas.

In 2016, Cheryl’s ex-husband, Robert “Lindsey” Duncan, filed a lawsuit against Sanders and her third husband Robert “Reed” Sanders, alleging Breach of Contract, Defamation, Breach of Fiduciary Duty, and Theft Liability Act requesting “monetary relief over $200,000 but not more than $1,000,000.

Cheryl Wheeler-Sanders (Dixon) and her husband Robert Reed Sanders were both killed in what is described as an “ambush” and “shootout” with her ex-husband Robert Lindsey Duncan on his property in Yellow Springs, Ohio on February 12, 2020. Cheryl and her husband drove from their home in Leicester, North Carolina, purportedly to confront Mr. Duncan about a college trust fund concerning their daughters. According to the Greene County, Ohio Sheriff, the Sanderses set up wireless video cameras on a tree stump across the street from Duncan’s property to monitor the activity there. On the morning of February 12, 2020, as Mr. Duncan and his wife, Molly, were returning home, they pulled into their driveway and were confronted by Robert Sanders. Mr. Sanders approached the vehicle, pointed a gun at Mrs. Duncan, and then turned the weapon toward Mr. Duncan. Mr. Duncan, who is licensed to carry a concealed weapon, shot and killed Mr. Sanders. Cheryl Sanders, who was monitoring the live stream of the events on her cell phone from the wireless cameras, then pulled up to the driveway in her vehicle and pointed her weapon toward Mrs. Duncan. In 1985, I made a transition from martial arts and kickboxing to a full time career as a stuntwoman. In 1982, I had moved from Pensacola, Florida to Los Angeles, California for several reasons. One, my sanctioning body, the WKA (World Karate Association) based out of Westminster, CA was working hard to promote me as a fighter. They were getting me matches on the west coast and it was better if I was geographically closer to the action. Secondly, Gerry Blanck, my long time sensei, coach and sparring partner moved out to Los Angeles after being contacted by an agent to try and break in to the movie business. He encouraged me to come out as well, pointing out that there were few women in martial art action films, and there was great opportunity. I loved Los Angeles and settled on the west side of town, teaching karate and working as a personal trainer at a popular health club in the Pacific Palisades called La Sante, while taking acting lessons at night and training daily.

I met lots of entertainment industry people working out at La Sante, and quickly had an opportunity to read for a part in a film called The Nightstalker (1986), doing a big fight scene with the lead actor Charles Napier. I auditioned and got the part. I had a blast working on the film and met a handful of stuntmen on set who were crucial to the fight scene. At the end of the day, the stuntmen I worked with enthusiastically encouraged me to work in the stunt industry full time, reassuring me that my world title in kickboxing, along with my natural athletic talents, would help me succeed in the industry.

I decided to take the plunge and enter the stunt business full time! I found that I had a natural talent for the stunt industry and the ability to adapt to any job. Physical challenges stimulated me, and I found that I welcomed the stress and adrenaline rush. In 1986, I was cast to stunt double lead actress Brooke Shields in a big budget action film called Brenda Starr (1989). While the film didn’t do well at the box office, it gave me the opportunity to work with dozens of talented stunt people who remembered me and started calling me to work for them. From there, the opportunities never stopped…

At 5’9” tall and 125 pounds, I got the opportunity to double most of the tall A-list actresses, from Kathleen Turner and Darryl Hannah to Sharon Stone. I went on to establish a career doubling leading ladies such as Sandra Bullock, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Garner, Rene Russo, Bridget Fonda, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ellen Barkin, Kelly Lynch, Kelly Preston, and more. I was at the top of my game, and had a reputation as an exceptional stuntwoman with talent behind the wheel of a car.

In 1989, I was called to stunt double Darlene Vogel on Back to the Future Part II (1989). I was involved in a hoverboard sequence involving Michael J. Fox, Tom Wilson, and the “bad guys,” which included my actress Darlene Vogel. The job was a total blast! We spent our days chasing Michael J. Fox (and his stunt double) on piano wire supported hoverboards throughout this elaborate futuristic outdoor set.

The grand finale involved the bad guys (us) spinning out of control over a large pond, and crashing through a giant courthouse window. The grand finale was filmed separately and much time and planning had gone into the preparation of the stunt. There were four of us crashing through the window, and a cherry picker had pulled us back from the impact point approximately 50 or 60 feet. We were picked up at the hip, and our overhead wires were attached to a single arbor. When the cherry picker released us, we all swung towards the giant window with two white pillars on either side of it.

As we traveled towards the window, we started listing to the left. I was on the far left to begin with, so when we started listing to the left, I realized that I was going to hit the left pillar. Cabled, with no control and nowhere to go, I simply brought my knees and feet up and tried to soften the blow of the pillar when I hit it. As I slammed into the pillar, stopping all my forward momentum, I hoped and prayed that the special effects man with his finger on the release button saw what happened to me!

Unfortunately, all 4 of us were on the same release button, and as the other stunt people swung into the giant, candy-glass paned window, the special effects man didn’t see that I had hit the pillar and released all of us at the same time. Unfortunately, I was dangling next to the pillar outside, 20 feet above the concrete! As I dropped, my life flashed before my eyes. I just knew I was too high up to survive the fall…

Miraculously, I woke up, still on the set and strapped to a board that immobilized my neck, back and legs. The talented on-set paramedics had revived me. I suffered a severe concussion and broke several bones in my face and right arm. My facial plate and brow bone were broken, as well as my right hand and wrist. The canvas flying harness custom made for Michael J. Fox saved me from breaking my back and/or hips. I was hospitalized for several weeks, and over the course of a year, endured four reconstructive surgeries to my face and arm. The following year I endured one more surgery to my jaw, an excruciating 8 hour surgery that ended with me having my jaw wired shut for 6 long weeks.

In 1991, at the end of all my surgeries and hospital visits, I was a mental, physical and emotional wreck. Months of drugs and pain killers, along with surgical anesthesia and other meds, had sapped my strength and wrecked my immune system. I was fatigued, sickly and tired all the time. Although I had started working again in the stunt industry, I was not in top form or anywhere near my pre-accident strong self!
