Man killed in Ybor City sports bar shooting identified
The Tampa Police Department have released the name of a man killed after a shooting at a Ybor City sports bar.
Police identified the victim as 30-year-old Gabriel Thompkins
According to TPD, two groups got into an altercation outside the Flexx Sports Bar and Ultra Lounge on E 7th Ave around 2:15 a.m.
A 22-year-old was reportedly removed from the bar for disorderly conduct and later returned with a gun.
While approaching the groups outside, police said he began arguing with one of the men and then started shooting.
Thompkins was shot, and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. TPD said officers were across the street when the argument started escalating, and were able to help the victim and take the alleged shooter into custody quickly.
Police have not yet identified the alleged shooter, or said if any charges have been filed
