A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in Mira Mesa , according to the San Diego Police Department.
Authorities say the incident happened shortly before 2 a.m. when a 29-year-old man was driving a 2023 Tesla westbound on Mira Mesa Boulevard.
Meanwhile, a 29-year-old man was crossing Mira Mesa Boulevard at the intersection with Westmore Road. Police say the pedestrian was crossing the street against a red light when he was struck by the Tesla.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. His identity has not been released at this time.
Traffic Division officers responded and will be handling the investigation. Alcohol was determined to not be a factor in the collision, according to police.
