A person was killed by being struck by a train in Orange County, news12 said today
According to a spokesperson for the MTA, a person who was not authorized to be on the tracks east of the Tuxedo Station was struck and killed shortly after 2 a.m.
No criminality is suspected, and the investigation is ongoing.
The person’s name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
A runaway freight train in northern India traveled nearly 45 miles without a driver, reaching speeds of up to 46 miles per hour, before it was brought to a stop, according to railway officials.

The train rolled for about 1.5 hours, from Kathua railway station in the state of Jammu and Kashmir before finally stopping in Hoshiarpur district in Punjab state, Prateek Srivastava, director for the Ministry of Railways in Jammu and Kashmir, told CNN on Monday.
“Due to reasons unknown, the (locomotive) pilot and the assistant pilot got off. As soon as they left, the train started rolling down. They could not get on to it,” he added.
The train was eventually diverted onto a path with an uphill gradient, said Srivastava. “We knew gravity would help us,” he added.
At least four people have been suspended following an inquiry into the incident, and a high-level investigation is currently underway at Kathua Railway Station.
In April 2018, a runaway train carrying up to 1,000 passengers rolled for several miles before being brought to an emergency stop.
Video on social media shows the train, which was traveling from the western state of Gujarat to Odisha state in the east, speeding past stations as onlookers and passengers screamed helplessly.
The train was eventually stopped after railway workers placed wooden wedges on the tracks, bringing it to a crunching halt.
None of the estimated 1,000 passengers was injured in the incident and the train reached its final destination two hours behind schedule.
India’s extensive rail network, one of the largest in the world, was built more than 160 years ago under British colonial rule. Today, it runs about 11,000 trains every day over 67,000 miles of tracks in the world’s most populous nation.
In June last year, India suffered one of its deadliest ever rail disasters, when two passenger trains and a freight train collided in Odisha state, killing at least 275 people and injuring more than 1,000.

At least 280 people are dead and as many as 1,000 are injured following a three-way train crash in the Indian city of Balasore, CNN reports.
A state railway official told the publication that the Friday collision is suspected to have been caused by traffic signaling failure, although the exact cause remains unclear.
“Distressed by the train accident in Odisha,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on Twitter Friday.
“In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon. Spoke to Railway Minister @AshwiniVaishnaw and took stock of the situation. Rescue ops are underway at the site of the mishap and all possible assistance is being given to those affected
The following day, Modi traveled to the site of the collision, and “took stock of the situation at the site of the tragedy in Odisha,” he added.
“Words can’t capture my deep sorrow,” Modi wrote. “We stand committed to providing all possible assistance to those affected. I laud all those working round the clock, on the ground and helping out in relief work.”
The collision marked India’s worst rail crash in more than two decades, per Reuters, which attributed the latest death toll of 288 to K. S. Anand, chief public relations officer of the South Eastern Railway. The outlet reports that the collision occurred around 7 p.m. local time (1330 GMT), as the Howrah Superfast Express was traveling from Bengaluru to Howrah in West Bengal, and the Coromandel Express was traveling from Kolkata to Chennai
A senior state railway official told CNN that the goods train was stopped on a track as the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express entered the track and slammed into it. Then, the Howrah Express derailed after slamming into coaches that were pushed onto the opposite track.
A witness told Reuters that bodies are still stuck inside the trains and the death toll is expected to rise.
“The Coromandel Express was supposed to travel on the main line, but a signal was given for the loop line instead, and the train rammed into a goods train already parked over there. Its coaches then fell onto the tracks on either side, also derailing the Howrah Superfast Express,” K. S. Anand reportedly said.
One witness called the scene “horrific and heart-wrenching” while speaking with Reuters, as surviving passenger Anubha Das described “families crushed away, limbless bodies and a bloodbath on the tracks
Ashwini Vaishnaw, the minister of railways, told reporters that a “high-level inquiry” has been ordered to understand the cause.
“It’s still ongoing,” Odisha’s fire services chief, Sudhanshu Sarangi, told local news channel NDTV of search efforts that are expected to resume Sunday, per CNN. “We need to lift the wreckage and see what’s underneath… A crane has arrived, we will pull the coaches up one by one, but we don’t have much hope of finding survivors. We’ve never seen so many dead bodies before. It’s sad, but we’re trying.”
Survivor Rohit Raj, 19, said that they were sleeping when the crash took place. “I was sleeping when all of a sudden, I heard a loud crash,” they told CNN. “There was smoke everywhere, we couldn’t see. Everyone was screaming, everyone was in shock.”
“People were trying to run and escape from the train. The coach in front of me was badly mangled. People were badly trapped. I saw people piled on top of each other. My coach derailed, but thankfully I managed to escape.”
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has also visited the site of the crash in Odisha and announced that families of those who died will receive 1 million rupees ($12,000), while those seriously injured will get 200,000 and those with minor injuries 50,000.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner says they have been called out to Cudahy for a deadly shooting
The medical examiner says a man was shot and killed near Packard and Birchwood. It happened around 5:50 p.m.
According to the Cudahy Police Department, they were dispatched for a reported argument. A further report said there was a gunshot. Police responded and found the deceased on scene.
Police say there is no known ongoing danger to the community.
An Alabama man’s fishing trip to a popular lake was interrupted after he found human remains inside a vehicle that belonged to someone who had gone missing over a decade previously.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that an unidentified fisherman called police on Friday.
The fisherman said that he had spotted what appeared to be a truck in the murky waters of Weiss Lake in Cherokee County, Alabama.
When local police arrived, they pulled out a truck and were shocked to find human remains inside.
Police said that the vehicle matched with a missing person, Oscar Lewis King, who was first reported missing more than a decade ago in north Alabama.
King, who mysteriously disappeared in 2013, was 74 at the time of his disappearance.
At the time of his disappearance, local stations reported that King’s truck was a blue 2001 Dodge Dakota truck.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said that the remains are being sent to a forensics lab for identity confirmation.
A 16-year-old boy from Pittsburg was fatally wounded in the morning after being shot, police said.
Antioch officers arrived on the scene at the 1700 block of Observation Way at approximately 5:12 a.m. to find the teen boy with at least one gunshot wound seated inside a vehicle.
Officers on site administered life-saving measures until they were relieved by ConFire and paramedics.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The identity of the victim is not being released at this time.
After canvassing the area, police found that the shooting occurred in the 2000 block of Tupelo Way, about two miles from the crime scene.
The Antioch Police Department’s Investigations Bureau, comprised of Crime Scene Investigators and detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit assumed control of the investigation.
This is an active investigation, and no additional information will be disclosed at this time.
A small plane crash near an airport in southern Ohio has claimed the lives of three people, authorities said.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the single-engine Piper PA-32 went down near James A. Rhodes Airport in Jackson at about 1:30 p.m.
The Jackson County sheriff’s office said three fatalities had been confirmed, the office said.
No further information was immediately available about the victims, whether other people were aboard, or where the aircraft originated and was bound.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.
The Jackson County airport is located about 80 miles (130 kilometers) south-southeast of Columbus and about 120 miles (193 kilometers) east of Cincinnati.
