Everything You Need to Know About Gutter Inspectors and Pricing: How to Find the Best Gutter Inspector Near You

Gutter maintenance is a critical part of home care that’s often overlooked. Regular gutter inspections help prevent costly water damage, mold, and foundation issues. Hiring a professional gutter inspector ensures your home stays protected from weather-related damage, making it an essential service for homeowners across the USA. But how do you find the best gutter inspector near you? What does the service cost, and what should you expect from a quality inspection? This comprehensive guide will answer all your questions.

Why Gutter Inspection is Important

Gutters play a vital role in directing rainwater away from your home. Without functioning gutters, water can pool around the foundation, leak into the walls, and cause significant structural damage. In areas with frequent rain or snowfall, clogged or broken gutters can lead to more severe problems, like mold, rotting wood, or erosion.

A gutter inspector assesses the condition of your gutters, checks for debris, cracks, or sagging, and ensures the water flow is unobstructed. Having a professional inspect your gutters regularly can catch potential issues early before they escalate into expensive repairs.

What Does a Gutter Inspector Do?

A gutter inspector provides a detailed evaluation of your gutter system. During the inspection, they typically check:

  1. Debris Accumulation: Leaves, twigs, and other debris can clog gutters, leading to overflow.
  2. Cracks or Leaks: Small cracks can develop into larger problems that let water seep into your walls or foundation.
  3. Gutter Alignment: Gutters must be properly aligned to ensure water drains effectively.
  4. Downspouts: Inspectors will ensure downspouts are clear of debris and directing water far from your foundation.
  5. Fasteners and Seals: Loose or rusted fasteners can cause gutters to pull away from the house.

At the end of the inspection, you’ll receive a detailed report, often with photos, describing the condition of your gutters and any necessary repairs.

How Much Does a Gutter Inspection Cost?

Pricing for gutter inspections can vary based on factors like the size of your home, the condition of your gutters, and your location. On average, a gutter inspection in the USA typically costs between $75 and $200.

Here’s a breakdown of what can affect pricing:

  • Home Size: Larger homes require more extensive inspection due to longer gutters.
  • Gutter Condition: Gutters that are clogged or in poor condition may take more time to inspect thoroughly.
  • Location: In high-cost areas like urban centers, rates may be higher compared to rural locations.
  • Additional Services: Some companies offer a package that includes cleaning along with the inspection. This can range from $100 to $300, depending on the severity of the debris and the need for repairs.

Finding a Gutter Inspector Near Me: Tips and Tricks

Finding a reliable gutter inspector near you can be straightforward if you know what to look for. Here are some strategies to find the best gutter inspector in your area:

  1. Online Search: Begin with a simple Google search for “gutter inspector near me.” This will give you a list of local professionals, along with reviews and ratings. Websites like Yelp and Angi (formerly Angie’s List) provide user reviews that can help you gauge the reliability of different companies.
  2. Local Directories: Many home service directories specialize in connecting homeowners with qualified inspectors. These platforms often provide verified reviews, pricing information, and even discounts.
  3. Referrals: Ask your neighbors or friends for recommendations. Word of mouth is one of the best ways to find a trustworthy service provider.
  4. Social Media Groups: Local community groups on platforms like Facebook or Nextdoor can also be excellent resources for finding highly-rated gutter inspectors near you.
  5. Home Improvement Stores: Stores like Home Depot or Lowe’s often have lists of local service providers, including gutter inspectors, that they recommend to customers.

What to Look for in the Best Gutter Inspector

Finding the best gutter inspector requires some research, but there are key traits to consider:

  1. Experience and Credentials: Look for inspectors with extensive experience and certifications. A professional gutter inspector should have proper insurance and licensing to protect both you and their workers.
  2. Positive Reviews: Check online reviews for positive feedback from previous clients. Consistent high ratings, detailed feedback, and recommendations are strong indicators of reliable service.
  3. Comprehensive Service Offerings: The best gutter inspectors often provide a range of services, including repairs, cleaning, and installation. A one-stop shop can be more convenient and cost-effective if repairs or cleaning are necessary.
  4. Transparent Pricing: A reputable gutter inspector will provide a clear, upfront estimate for the inspection. If additional services like cleaning or repairs are required, they should give you a detailed breakdown of costs before proceeding.
  5. Use of Technology: Some of the best gutter inspectors use drones or other modern technology to get a detailed view of hard-to-reach areas. This can result in a more thorough inspection, particularly for larger homes or homes with multiple stories.

How Often Should You Schedule a Gutter Inspection?

The frequency of gutter inspections depends on your location and the surrounding environment. If you live in an area with heavy rainfall, snow, or many trees, you’ll want to schedule an inspection at least twice a year, preferably in the spring and fall. In other areas with mild climates, an annual inspection may be sufficient.

Hiring a professional gutter inspector is a crucial step in maintaining your home and preventing costly damage. With the average cost ranging from $75 to $200, it’s a relatively inexpensive investment in your home’s longevity. Whether you’re looking for a gutter inspector near me or the best gutter inspector in the USA, following the steps outlined in this guide can help you find a trustworthy professional. Look for experienced providers with excellent reviews, transparent pricing, and a range of services to meet all your gutter needs.

Taking the time to find the right gutter inspector will ensure your gutters continue to protect your home for years to come.

Roof Inspectors in Florida: Ensuring the Integrity of Your Home’s Roof

Florida’s weather, known for its intense sun, heavy rains, and frequent hurricanes, puts residential roofs to the test. To maintain the structural integrity of your home, regular roof inspections are crucial. Whether you’re purchasing a new home, assessing damage after a storm, or ensuring your roof remains in top shape, hiring a professional roof inspector is essential.

In this article, we’ll explore the importance of roof inspections in Florida, average costs, and how to find the best independent roofing inspectors, home roof inspectors near me, and other related services to protect your investment.

The Importance of Roof Inspections in Florida

Florida’s climate presents unique challenges for roofs, from the blistering sun that can weaken materials to the strong winds and rain that may cause structural damage. Roof inspections are vital for several reasons:

  1. Hurricane Preparedness: Florida experiences hurricane season from June to November, and roof inspections can ensure your roof is strong enough to withstand powerful winds.
  2. Preventing Leaks: Identifying minor damage before it escalates can prevent costly repairs, especially after Florida’s intense thunderstorms.
  3. Maintaining Home Value: Regular inspections can extend the life of your roof and maintain the value of your home.
  4. Insurance Purposes: Many insurance companies in Florida require regular roof inspections to ensure your home remains covered, particularly after hurricanes or storms.

What to Expect During a Roof Inspection

A comprehensive roof inspection evaluates the following components:

  • Roof Materials: Checking for cracked, curled, or missing shingles/tiles that can lead to leaks.
  • Flashing: Ensuring flashing around chimneys, vents, and valleys is intact to prevent water from seeping into your home.
  • Roof Structure: Inspectors look for signs of sagging or damage to the roof’s structure caused by age or storm damage.
  • Gutters and Drainage: Proper drainage is essential in Florida’s rainy climate, so inspectors check for blockages or damage to gutters and downspouts.
  • Ventilation: Ensuring adequate roof ventilation helps prevent heat buildup, which can damage your roof in Florida’s hot climate.

Average Costs of Roof Inspection Services in Florida

The cost of a roof inspection in Florida can vary depending on the size of your home, roof type, and the thoroughness of the inspection. Here are some general price ranges:

  • Basic Roof Inspection: $75 to $200 – A general inspection to assess roof condition.
  • Comprehensive Inspection with Drone: $200 to $500 – High-tech inspections, including drone imagery, often come at a higher price.
  • Insurance-related Roof Inspection: $100 to $300 – Insurance companies may require a more detailed inspection, especially after a claim for storm damage.
  • Pre-purchase Home Roof Inspection: $150 to $400 – If you’re buying a home in Florida, it’s wise to have a roof inspection as part of the overall home inspection.

These costs may fluctuate based on your location and the type of roof you have. Flat roofs, metal roofs, or tile roofs may require different approaches, which could affect the price.

Finding the Best Roof Inspection Services Near Me

When searching for the best roof inspection services near me, it’s essential to look for licensed, insured, and experienced professionals. Florida requires roofing inspectors to meet specific licensing requirements, so be sure to ask for their credentials.

Here are some tips to help you find reliable roof inspectors:

1. Search for Independent Roofing Inspectors

Hiring an independent roofing inspector can give you a more unbiased assessment. They are not associated with any repair company, so they have no vested interest in suggesting unnecessary repairs. You can find reputable independent roof inspectors by searching online directories or asking for recommendations from local homeowners.

2. Check Local Listings for Home Roof Inspectors Near Me

Use search engines or local service directories like Angi (formerly Angie’s List), HomeAdvisor, or Yelp to locate home roof inspectors near me. These platforms provide customer reviews and ratings, making it easier to assess the inspector’s reputation.

3. Ask for Recommendations from Neighbors and Friends

Florida’s weather affects all homeowners, so ask friends, family, or neighbors for recommendations for roof inspectors they trust.

4. Hire a Roof Inspection Company Near Me with Positive Reviews

When choosing a roof inspection company near me, check customer reviews on Google and other review platforms. Look for companies with high ratings, prompt customer service, and detailed inspections. Be wary of any company with a high number of complaints or negative reviews.

5. Consider Roof Inspection Companies with Drone Technology

Some roof inspection companies in Florida use drones for high-quality roof imagery and to access difficult-to-reach areas. Drone inspections are especially useful for larger homes or buildings with complex roof structures.

Questions to Ask Before Hiring a Roof Inspection Service

Before hiring a roof inspection company or an independent inspector, ask the following questions:

  1. Are You Licensed and Insured? Florida law requires roofing professionals to be licensed. Verify the inspector’s credentials to ensure they meet the state’s standards.
  2. What’s Included in the Inspection? Understand the scope of the inspection. Will it include an evaluation of flashing, vents, drainage, and the structural integrity of the roof?
  3. Do You Provide a Written Report? A detailed, written report of the inspection is essential. It should outline any issues found, along with recommendations for repairs or maintenance.
  4. What’s Your Experience with Florida’s Climate? Roofs in Florida face unique challenges. Make sure the inspector is familiar with how the state’s weather impacts roofs, especially in coastal areas prone to hurricanes.
  5. How Long Will the Inspection Take? A thorough inspection usually takes between 1 to 3 hours, depending on the size and condition of your roof.

Final Thoughts: Protecting Your Roof in Florida

Hiring a professional roof inspector is a wise investment to ensure your roof is in optimal condition, especially given Florida’s extreme weather conditions. Whether you’re searching for an independent roofing inspector or a roof inspection company near me, make sure to choose a licensed, experienced professional.

The cost of roof inspection services is minor compared to the cost of roof repairs or replacements, especially when damage goes undetected. Routine inspections will help you catch problems early, prolong the life of your roof, and give you peace of mind.

By using online search tools and reading reviews, you can easily find the best roof inspection services near me. Investing in regular roof inspections will save you money in the long run and ensure that your home remains safe and secure for years to come.

By keeping your roof in excellent condition, you can protect your home from Florida’s harsh climate and enjoy your home with confidence!

How to Find the Best Gutter Inspector Near You

Gutter inspection is essential for maintaining the health of your home. Proper gutter systems prevent water damage by directing rainwater away from your foundation. Without regular inspections, gutters can become clogged, leading to water overflow, leaks, or even structural damage. When you live near the coast, this maintenance becomes even more crucial due to increased rain and salt exposure that can wear down gutter systems faster.

If you’re looking for a qualified gutter inspector near you in the USA, especially along the coastal regions, here’s how to find the best professional.

What Does a Gutter Inspector Do?

A gutter inspector assesses the condition of your gutters, looking for signs of wear, blockages, or leaks. They ensure that the system is functioning correctly, checking for:

  • Blockages from debris like leaves or twigs
  • Rust, holes, or cracks in the gutter material
  • Poor water flow or drainage issues
  • Loose or sagging gutters
  • Faulty or misaligned downspouts

Coastal areas pose unique challenges for gutters due to frequent exposure to wind, rain, and saltwater, which can speed up the corrosion process. Regular inspections are particularly important if you live near the coast to protect your home from potential water damage.

How to Find the Best Gutter Inspector Near You

  1. Search Local Directories
Utilize websites like Angie’s List, HomeAdvisor, or Yelp to find well-reviewed gutter inspectors in your area. These platforms allow you to filter results based on ratings, location, and customer reviews.
  2. Ask for Recommendations
Neighbors and local community groups are excellent resources for finding reliable gutter inspectors. In coastal areas, homeowners often face similar maintenance challenges, and their firsthand experiences can guide you to the best professionals.
  3. Check Certifications and Experience
Look for gutter inspectors who are licensed and insured. Additionally, seek out professionals who have experience working in coastal environments. Their understanding of the unique needs of coastal homes can help ensure a thorough inspection.
  4. Verify Online Reviews
Reviews can provide insight into the quality of service provided by an inspector. Look for patterns in customer feedback, such as promptness, thoroughness, and professionalism. Be sure to check multiple review sources to get a balanced perspective.
  5. Request a Free Estimate
Many gutter inspectors offer free estimates or consultations. This gives you a chance to compare pricing, professionalism, and expertise before committing. A reputable inspector should provide you with a clear explanation of what the inspection will entail.

Coastal Gutter Considerations

If you live near the coasts of the USA, such as along the Atlantic, Pacific, or the Gulf of Mexico, there are extra factors to consider when selecting a gutter inspector:

  • Saltwater Exposure: Salt can accelerate corrosion, especially in metal gutters. Inspectors familiar with coastal areas will know what to look for.
  • Hurricane or Storm Damage: Coastal regions often face harsher weather, including hurricanes. A good inspector will check for storm-related damage and recommend solutions to prevent future issues.
  • Heavy Rainfall: Gutters in coastal regions must handle heavier rainfall than inland areas. Coastal inspectors understand the need for high-capacity gutter systems and can recommend upgrades if necessary.

Hiring the right gutter inspector can save you significant money by catching problems early. Whether you’re in the heart of the USA or living on the coasts, finding a licensed, experienced, and well-reviewed professional will ensure your gutters stay in good shape. Coastal residents should be particularly vigilant, as their gutters face more challenges due to environmental factors.

By using local directories, seeking recommendations, and checking credentials, you can find the best gutter inspector for your home and maintain your property’s value and structural integrity.

Haag Roof Inspectors: Ensuring Top-Quality Roof Inspections

When it comes to roof inspections, particularly in regions prone to severe weather conditions like the coastal areas of the USA, you want to ensure that the inspector you hire is highly qualified and experienced. Haag Certified Inspectors are renowned for their expertise in assessing roof damage, making them the go-to professionals for many homeowners and businesses alike.

What is a Haag Certified Roof Inspector?

A Haag Certified Roof Inspector is a professional who has undergone rigorous training through Haag Engineering, an industry leader in forensic engineering and consulting. Haag-certified inspectors are trained to assess damage caused by weather events, manufacturing defects, and installation issues. This certification program ensures that inspectors can evaluate all types of roofing systems, from residential to commercial, with precision and accuracy.

By obtaining this certification, inspectors learn how to differentiate between various types of damage, whether caused by hail, wind, or other environmental factors. This expertise ensures they provide accurate reports and reliable assessments, which can be crucial in insurance claims and repair decisions.

Why Choose Haag Certified Roof Inspectors?

  1. Expertise and Knowledge: Haag inspectors are trained to recognize subtle issues that others might overlook, whether caused by storms, aging, or poor installation.
  2. Accuracy: Their assessments are backed by a trusted methodology, leading to precise evaluations that help prevent future roofing problems.
  3. Insurance Claims: Many insurance companies prefer or even require Haag-certified inspectors because of the accuracy and reliability of their assessments, making the claims process smoother.
  4. Industry Respect: The Haag certification is well-respected in the roofing and insurance industries, signifying a high standard of excellence and professionalism.

Finding the Best Roof Inspectors Near You in the USA, Including Coastal Regions

Whether you live on the East or West Coast of the United States, finding a qualified Haag Certified Roof Inspector is crucial, particularly in areas prone to hurricanes, storms, or heavy rainfall. Here’s how to find the best:

  1. Haag-Certified Directory: Start by visiting the Haag website or using online directories that list Haag Certified Roof Inspectors. These directories allow you to search for certified inspectors based on your location, ensuring that the professionals you hire have the proper credentials.
  2. Online Reviews and Ratings: Use platforms like Google Reviews, Yelp, and Angie’s List to read reviews and ratings of roof inspectors in your area. Pay attention to customer experiences related to inspection accuracy, professionalism, and timeliness.
  3. Word of Mouth: Ask for recommendations from neighbors, family, or friends who have recently had their roofs inspected, especially if you live in a coastal area that frequently deals with severe weather.
  4. Local Roofing Associations: Many local and national roofing associations, such as the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), can provide listings of certified inspectors who meet industry standards, including Haag certification.
  5. Check Credentials: Always verify that the inspector you are considering has their Haag certification up to date. You can ask them directly for proof of their certification or check through online databases.

Special Considerations for Coastal Areas

Living along the coast comes with unique challenges. Saltwater, high winds, hurricanes, and even prolonged exposure to moisture can affect your roofing system over time. In these regions, having a Haag Certified Inspector with specific experience in coastal roof inspections is vital.

  1. Hurricane-Prone Areas: States like Florida, Texas, and the Carolinas face frequent hurricanes. A Haag-certified inspector with experience in hurricane damage can provide you with a thorough understanding of how your roof holds up after a storm.
  2. Moisture and Saltwater Exposure: Roofs in coastal regions experience more moisture and salt exposure, leading to corrosion and deterioration. Ensure that your inspector is familiar with these environmental factors and how they affect different roofing materials.
  3. High-Wind Resistance: On the West Coast, particularly in areas of California, high winds can create roofing issues that are not always obvious. Haag inspectors trained in high-wind damage detection can spot issues early and recommend appropriate repairs.

Conclusion

When it comes to ensuring the longevity and integrity of your roof, particularly in weather-prone regions like the coasts of the USA, hiring a Haag Certified Roof Inspector is one of the best decisions you can make. Their specialized training and expertise ensure that any potential issues are identified and addressed promptly, giving you peace of mind and protection for years to come.

With proper research through directories, reviews, and local recommendations, you can find a highly qualified Haag inspector near you. Whether you’re dealing with storm damage or routine maintenance, investing in a certified inspection will ensure your roof stands strong against whatever nature throws its way.

You can also use online directories like Yelp, Angie’s List, or Thumbtack to find top-rated professionals.

Best Sources:

  • Google Maps: Provides a list of roof inspectors with ratings and reviews.

  • Angie’s List: A subscription-based service with verified reviews and ratings of contractors.
  • HomeAdvisor: Allows you to compare quotes from local inspectors.
  • Thumbtack: Connects you with local service providers based on your location and preferences.

Costs:

For an initial inspection, you can expect to pay between $75 to $300 depending on your location, the size of your roof, and the complexity of the inspection. Some companies offer free inspections, especially if you’re committing to roof repairs through their services.

2. Get Recommendations from Friends and Neighbors

One of the most reliable methods is to ask for recommendations from people you trust. Neighbors, friends, or family members who have recently had their roof inspected or repaired can provide firsthand experiences. Personal recommendations often come with valuable insights into the professionalism, punctuality, and pricing of the inspector or company.

Costs:

By using a recommended inspector, you may benefit from discounts or lower rates, especially if the inspector is a sole proprietor or if your connection can vouch for you.

3. Consult Real Estate Agents and Contractors

Real estate agents and contractors often work with roof inspectors as part of home buying and selling transactions. They typically have a list of preferred roof inspectors who they trust. If you are in the process of buying or selling a home, asking your real estate agent for recommendations can streamline the process.

Costs:

In most cases, roof inspection during a home sale is paid for by the buyer. Costs can range from $150 to $500, particularly if a full report is required for negotiations or closing.

4. Utilize Roofing Associations and Certifications

Another excellent way to find a reliable roof inspector is by consulting professional roofing associations or certification bodies. These organizations maintain lists of certified, insured, and trained roof inspectors who adhere to high standards.

Sources:

  • National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA): Offers a directory of qualified roofing professionals across the country.
  • International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI): A global organization that certifies home inspectors, including roof inspectors.
  • Roof Consultants Institute (RCI): Provides a list of certified roof consultants and inspectors.

Costs:

Certified roof inspectors may charge a premium for their services, often starting at $200 to $400 for residential roofs. However, their expertise and adherence to industry standards can justify the higher cost, especially for complex inspections.

5. Use Insurance Companies’ Preferred Inspectors

If you need a roof inspection following storm damage or other insurance-related claims, contacting your insurance company is an excellent option. Many insurance companies have a list of preferred or pre-approved roof inspectors who can assess the damage and report back to the insurer directly.

Costs:

In these cases, the inspection may be fully or partially covered by your insurance, especially if it’s related to a claim. Be sure to check with your insurance company regarding their policies.

6. Check Online Review Platforms and Social Media

Online platforms such as Facebook, Nextdoor, or even Reddit can be invaluable resources for finding roof inspectors based on local recommendations. Many homeowners use these platforms to share their experiences and refer reliable service providers.

Costs:

Finding an inspector via social media can sometimes lead to reduced costs, especially if you’re dealing directly with the inspector rather than through a larger company. Inspection fees typically range between $100 to $250, but prices vary depending on the size of the job and location.

Factors That Influence Roof Inspection Costs

  • Roof Size and Complexity: Larger or more complex roofs, such as those with multiple slopes or features like skylights, typically cost more to inspect.
  • Location: Roof inspection costs can vary significantly by region. Urban areas with higher costs of living may have higher inspection fees.
  • Roof Condition: If your roof is in poor condition, the inspection might take longer and could cost more.
  • Type of Inspection: Some inspections include specialized services such as infrared scanning for leaks, which will increase the overall cost.

Final Thoughts

Finding the best roof inspectors near you is a crucial step in maintaining the structural integrity of your home. Whether you’re using online directories, seeking recommendations, or consulting with industry professionals, make sure to choose an inspector with proper certifications and positive reviews. While costs can vary, investing in a quality roof inspection can prevent costly repairs down the road and provide peace of mind.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) confirmed that four people died at Apalachee High School in Barrow County, Georgia — approximately 40 miles northeast of Atlanta – and nine others were taken to various hospitals with gunshot wounds. The suspect is alive and in custody.
“At approximately 10:23 a.m. officers from multiple law enforcement agencies and Fire/EMS personnel were dispatched to the high school in reference to a reported active shooting,” the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
GBI Director Chris Hosey told reporters Wednesday afternoon that two students and two teachers were confirmed dead. Hosey also identified the shooter as 14-year-old Colt Gray, a student at the school.

Gray] has been taken into custody,” Hosey said. “He will be charged with murder, and he will be tried as an adult and handled as an adult.”
Barrow County Sheriff Judd Smith addressed reporters earlier on Wednesday, providing limited details. Smith said he first received a call of an active shooter at 9:30 a.m. He confirmed that there were “multiple injuries.
The sheriff said law enforcement officials were conducting a “very, very fluid investigation” and asked for patience from the media to let them gather the facts. He predicted that it will take “multiple days” to figure out what happened and how.
Smith confirmed at the time that a suspect was in custody, and said they were “in the process” of reuniting students with their parents.
Georgia authorities had not released the identities of the deceased and wounded victims of the Apalachee High School shooting when Smith spoke, but one woman came forward to say her father was shot.
In a public Facebook post, a woman named Katie Phenix explained that her father David Phenix had been shot at the school.
“We are so thankful for all the texts, calls, and messages about my dad, David Phenix,” the daughter wrote. “There was a shooting this morning at Apalachee High School and my dad was shot in the foot and in the hip, shattering his hip bone.
“He arrived to the hospital alert and awake. He just got out of surgery and is stable,” she added. “We will update as we hear new information. We are so, so lucky, but please keep our family as well as the AHS family in your prayers.”
He did not take any questions, but said he hoped to provide more information later in the afternoon.
President Biden issued a statement and condemned the violence at the high school.

“Jill and I are mourning the deaths of those whose lives were cut short due to more senseless gun violence and thinking of all of the survivors whose lives are forever changed. What should have been a joyous back-to-school season in Winder, Georgia, has now turned into another horrific reminder of how gun violence continues to tear our communities apart,” Biden wrote.
Students across the country are learning how to duck and cover instead of how to read and write. We cannot continue to accept this as normal,” Biden continued.
Biden added that they are closely coordinating with officials at the federal, state and local level, and are grateful for the first responders who brought the suspect into custody and prevented further loss of life.
Biden continued his statement by saying that “after decades of inaction, Republicans in Congress must finally say ‘enough is enough’ and work with Democrats to pass common-sense gun safety legislation.
We must ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines once again, require safe storage of firearms, enact universal background checks, and end immunity for gun manufacturers. These measures will not bring those who were tragically killed today back, but it will help prevent more tragic gun violence from ripping more families apart,” Biden said.
Former President Donald Trump also issued a statement about the shooting on his social media platform, “Truth Social,” and shared his grief for all those involved in today’s events.
“Our hearts are with the victims and loved ones of those affected by the tragic event in Winder, GA.
These cherished children were taken from us far too soon by a sick and deranged monster,” Trump wrote
Footage from the scene showed first responders rendering aid to individuals outside the school, as well as dozens of police officers surrounding the perimeter. The FBI has also acknowledged they are aware of the unfolding situation.
I have directed all available state resources to respond to the incident at Apalachee High School and urge all Georgians to join my family in praying for the safety of those in our classrooms, both in Barrow County and across the state,” said Gov. Brian Kemp
We will continue to work with local, state, and federal partners as we gather information and further respond to this situation,” the governor added.
Text messages from a student to his mother also revealed the horror happening inside the high school.
“School shooting rn. i’m scared. pls, i’m not joking,” the text messages posted by Erin Clark read.
The mother then responds to her son and says she is leaving work.
“i love you,” the student tells his mom.
She says it back and asks where he is.
U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland confirmed during a separate press conference Wednesday afternoon that the FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) was on the scene gathering information about the incident
“I’m devastated for the families that have been affected by this terrible tragedy,” Garland said.
Vice President Kamala Harris also issued a statement during a press conference acknowledging the shooting and violence that took place.
“It’s just outrageous that every day in our country, in the United States of America, that parents have to send their children to school worried about whether or not their child will come home alive,” Harris said.
Our hearts are with all the students of the teachers and their families, of course. And we are grateful to the first responders and the law enforcement that were on the scene,” Harris continued.

Missouri police officer mom killed during high-speed chase, leaves behind 6 children

A Missouri police officer and mother of six children was killed after losing control of her patrol car during a high-speed pursuit, authorities said.

Osage Beach Police Officer Phylicia Carson, 33, was on patrol around 1:18 a.m. when she spotted a speeding vehicle on westbound Highway 54, Chief Todd Davis said during a news conference.

Carson activated her police lights and tried to pull the vehicle over, but Davis said the driver sped away.

As Carson pursued the speeding vehicle, her patrol car skidded off the road and struck a tree before catching fire. Davis said Carson died in the crash.

The speeding driver crashed minutes later before being taken into custody.

The suspect, later identified as 23-year-old Christopher Aaron Bishop Wehmeyer, was charged with aggravated fleeing a stop or detention of a motor vehicle, causing a death.

He is being held in the Camden County Jail without bond, according to online jail records.

Carson leaves behind a husband and six children, Davis said. She began her career in law enforcement with the Osage Beach Police Department in June 2023.

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson wrote on social media that Carson’s family and community will remain “in our prayers.”

“Officer Carson will not be forgotten,” Parson wrote.

Missouri State Highway Patrol is leading the crash investigation.

Four passengers killed after gunman opens fire in Chicago-area train car

Four people were shot to death on a Chicago-area train on the morning, according to Illinois authorities.

Authorities were called to a train station in Forest Park, a village in Cook County, at around 5:30 a.m. The shooting occurred on a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Blue Line train.

Three people were pronounced dead on the scene, while the fourth victim died at a local hospital. Forest Park Police Department deputy chief Chris Chin told reporters that no additional information about the victims is known at the time

According to FOX 32 Chicago, a suspect fled the scene but was eventually arrested by authorities. The suspect was reportedly found on a CTA Pink Line train.

“A weapon was recovered,” Chin said. “There is no immediate threat. This appears to be an isolated incident on this unfortunate day.”

Forest Park Mayor Rory Hoskins said that the Forest Park train station has been the subject of an inordinate amount of emergency calls.

“It’s a horrible tragedy that four people are dead on Labor Day weekend,” Hoskins said. “Our police department and our fire department respond to this location probably more than any other location in our jurisdiction.”

In a statement, the CTA called the shooting “heinous and egregious,” and promised to assist law enforcement with their investigation.

“This heinous and egregious act of violence should never have occurred, nonetheless on a public transit train,” the organization said.

Authorities are actively investigating the incident. No additional information is known at this time.

Cause of Death Revealed for 13-Year-Old Madeline Soto as Mother’s Boyfriend Faces Multiple Charges

The cause of death for 13-year-old Madeline Soto, whose tragic disappearance led to the arrest of her mother’s boyfriend, has now been disclosed by authorities.

Madeline was discovered deceased in a wooded area on March 1, just a few days after she was reported missing on February 26 from her home in Kissimmee, Florida, according to earlier reports from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. The medical examiner has officially classified her death as a homicide, confirming that she died due to strangulation, as reported by FOX 35 Orlando, WESH, and Click Orlando.

During the investigation into Madeline’s disappearance, her mother’s boyfriend, Stephan Sterns, 37, was taken into custody on charges of sexual battery and possession of child sexual abuse material. Although these charges were initially unrelated to Madeline’s disappearance, Sterns was quickly identified as the primary suspect in her case.

In April, Sterns faced additional charges, including first-degree murder, in connection with Madeline’s death, as announced by authorities in Osceola County. Investigators uncovered numerous disturbing images and videos, leading to a total of 60 charges against him, including capital sexual battery, lewd or lascivious molestation, and possession of child pornography, according to a statement from the State Attorney’s Office.

The sheriff’s office revealed evidence suggesting that Madeline “was never dropped off near her school” on the morning of February 26, contrary to what was initially believed. Sterns was reportedly the last person seen with her that morning. The night before her disappearance, Madeline’s mother allegedly asked her to sleep with Sterns so she could rest after a late work shift, as she later informed authorities, according to a “supplemental case report” cited by WESH.

On the morning of her disappearance, Sterns was reportedly captured on video discarding items in a trashcan at the apartment complex where he lived with Madeline and her mother. Authorities later retrieved Madeline’s backpack and laptop from that trashcan. About an hour after this, Sterns was seen with Madeline in his car, and investigators believe she was already deceased at that time.

Sterns is accused of sexually abusing Madeline and recording the abuse on video, with authorities alleging that the abuse began as early as 2022, when Madeline was just 11 years old. Despite the overwhelming evidence, Sterns has pleaded not guilty to all 60 charges, as reported by Click Orlando and the Osceola News-Gazette.
