Arkansas father arrested after allegedly killing man he found with his missing 14-year-old daughter

An Arkansas father was arrested after allegedly shooting and killing a man who was found in a vehicle with the father’s missing 14-year-old daughter.

Aaron Spencer, 36, reported his daughter missing, and Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to his home

But as deputies were on their way to the residence, they learned that Spencer had found his daughter in a vehicle with Michael Fosler, 67. A confrontation ensued between the two men before Spencer allegedly shot and killed Fosler.

Deputies arrested Spencer on a preliminary charge of first-degree murder, a Class Y felony. He was booked into the Lonoke County Detention Center before being released the next day after posting bail.

Sheriff John Staley said in a video on Facebook that Spencer has not been formally charged yet and that the District Attorney’s Office will decide which charges to file.

“This is a tragic situation and my thoughts and prayers are with all involved,” Staley said.

Spencer’s wife, Heather, said on Facebook that Fosler had a “no contact order” with her daughter for stalking and raping the 14-year-old over the summer and that she and her husband feared he might kill her. She said that she and her husband were unaware Fosler was again in contact with her child.

“We absolutely called 911 during the entire event,” she wrote. “We had no idea this man was in contact with our child again. He was waiting 6-9 felonies for what he did, not 2. He was looking at the rest of his pathetic life in jail, and our daughter was the only witness.”

“Some things we will never know, but we know that the police department afforded this predator privacy they did not give our family,” she continued. “Including posting our home address. I’m deeply offended by the way this was handled by the county [sheriff’s] office.”

The woman added: “At the end of the day, our daughter is a victim and we have a long road of recovery for everyone. We are so thankful for all the calls, messages and prayers.”

Fosler had been arrested by another law enforcement agency in July and booked for internet stalking of a child and sexual assault, Staley told USA TODAY.

“I absolutely do not support predators,” he said. I’m a daddy. “I have three daughters. I know she’s hurt right now, but there’s absolutely nobody I would put ahead of our children, their children, my children.”

The sheriff said deputies are looking into what happened leading up to the shooting.

“When we get on scene and there’s a homicide, it means one person took the life of another,” Staley said. “It’s either justified or not justified. That’s what the fact finding, that’s what the investigation is going to find out.”

The child’s mother had set up a GoFundMe to pay for her husband’s legal fees, but GoFundMe removed the fundraiser and returned the money to donors. GoFundMe’s terms of service prohibit fundraisers from raising money for the legal defense of anyone formally charged with an alleged violent crime.

Because of this, the woman is now accepting money on Venmo and Cash App.

“My husband is a hero and we are so thankful to have him home with us for now,” The woman wrote in a Thursday Facebook post. “We want to do everything possible to ensure he can continue to be here to protect us.”

She also thanked other victims who reached out to her with allegations that Fosler attacked them.

“We have gotten a clear picture of a predator who continuously worked with children and preyed on young girls,” she wrote. “This man was Chief of police in Indiana and resource officer, giving us a better idea of why the Lonoke county courts have been protecting him and going after my husband.”

Man Allegedly Held Wife, 7 Children and Mother-in-Law Captive for 20 Years, Sexually Abusing Several of Them

Police units respond on scene.

A father and husband in Brazil is accused by police of sexually abusing and imprisoning his wife, their seven children and his mother-in-law for two decades, according to multiple reports.

The alleged crimes came to light after one of the daughters escaped the home in Novo Oriente de Minas in the state of Minas Gerais, local police said, per several Brazilian outlets including Guia Muriae, Diario Do Rio Doce and O Tempo.

The 54-year-old man, who has not been named in the reports, allegedly held his 40-year-old wife captive for almost the entirety of their marriage, Herika Ribeiro Sena of the Regional Civil Police station in Teofilo Otoni said, per Guia Muriae, Diario Do Rio Doce and O Tempo.

“The victim only left the house to receive benefits and was often accompanied by him,” Sena said, per Guia Muriae and O Tempo.

“None of the neighbors knew her, not even her relatives had access to her,” she said. (The translation of the quotes varied slightly for the outlets).

The couple’s children, between the ages of 3 and 22, were also victimized by him, per police, the outlets reported.

The daughters allege they had been sexually abused by their father, police said, according to O Tempo and Folhadoes.

Police allege the daughters claimed the man drilled holes into the walls of the house so he could see them taking showers and getting dressed, per Guia Muriae, Diario Do Rio Doce and O Tempo.

The man also allegedly sexually abused his now-deceased mother-in-law, police allege, per the outlets. Police further allege the woman died after falling ill and not being given proper care.

The man is further accused of burying three fetuses on the property after forcing his wife to have three miscarriages by making her take medication, police say, per Guia Muriae and O Tempo.

The man is being charged with false imprisonment, rape of a vulnerable person, psychological violence, abortion and concealment of a corpse, per Sena, Diario Do Rio Doce, O Tempo and Folhadoes reported.

“What this daughter did is very important: bringing what was happening to the public so that action could be taken,” Sena said, per all three outlets.

The suspect is in custody and has denied all charges against him, per Guia Muriae, Diario Do Rio Doce and O Tempo.

Hurricane Milton, a Massive storm leaves millions without power and at least 5 dead

Hurricane Milton barreled into the Atlantic Ocean after plowing across Florida, where it knocked out power to more than 3 million customers and whipped up 150 tornado warnings.
A spokesperson for ZooTampa said all 1,000 animals at the zoo are safe and will remain in their night houses and hurricane shelter locations while habitats are cleared of debris. The Florida Aquarium in Tampa also confirmed their animals are “doing well.
The zoo sustained some damage from the high winds and does not have power, and the spokesperson anticipates the debris cleanup and restoration, which is already underway, will take a few days.
The Florida Aquarium’s buildings in downtown Tampa and Apollo Beach also “appear to have minor weather-related damage,” the aquarium said in a press release.
As of Thursday afternoon, both the aquarium and the zoo aim to reopen Saturday, depending on when power is restored.
A Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued a man who was left clinging to an ice chest in the Gulf of Mexico after his boat was stranded overnight in waters roiled by Hurricane Milton.
The man was aboard a fishing vessel that became disabled Wednesday off Madeira Beach, Florida, hours before the hurricane made landfall, said Coast Guard press officer Nicole Groll. The man, who was not identified, was able to radio the Coast Guard station in nearby St. Petersburg before contact was lost about 6:45 p.m.
But on Thursday searchers located the man about 30 miles (48 kilometers) off Longboat Key, Florida, clinging to an open cooler chest, a video clip provided by the Coast Guard shows. In the video, a Coast Guard diver was lowered from a helicopter and swam to the man to pick him up.
The man was taken to Tampa General Hospital for medical treatment, the Coast Guard said. The fate of his boat was unknown. A hospital spokesperson was not able to provide a condition without the man’s name.

Taylor Swift donates $5 million toward hurricane relief efforts

Taylor Swift has donated $5 million to Feeding America to support relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

The nonprofit announced the pop star’s donation Wednesday with a “Thank You” graphic resembling a friendship bracelet, a favorite accessory that Swift’s fans trade at her concerts.

Feeding America is “incredibly grateful” for the donation, CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot said in a statement.

“This contribution will help communities rebuild and recover, providing essential food, clean water, and supplies to people affected by these devastating storms,” the statement continued. “Together, we can make a real impact in supporting families as they navigate the challenges ahead.

The organization also encouraged fans and supporters to “join Taylor” in contributing to relief efforts.

Swift’s longtime friends, actors Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, also donated $1 million to Feeding America to support the hurricane relief efforts. Babineaux-Fontenot said in a statement that the couple’s “longtime support of Feeding America in times of crisis” has helped provide basic needs for several past natural disasters.

Swift has a long history of donating to nonprofits in the wake of natural disasters or tragic events, including a tornado that hit Tennessee in 2020 and a shooting in February 2024 at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade.

Her philanthropic relationship with food banks became a quiet hallmark of her record-breaking Eras Tour, with the singer donating the equivalent of hundreds of thousands of meals to different food banks across cities she played in.

Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida as a Category 3 storm , bringing misery to a coast still ravaged by Helene.

Hurricane Milton hits Florida

Hurricane Milton, a powerful storm that recently hit Florida, has caused significant damage and disruption across the state. The hurricane made landfall near Sarasota as a Category 3 storm, but had initially been a Category 5 storm while over the Gulf of Mexico. It brought destructive winds, heavy rainfall, and a dangerous storm surge that led to widespread flooding and power outages affecting millions of residents.
More than 4 million people in Florida lost power during the storm, and about 3.2 million are still without electricity. In areas like St. Petersburg, the damage was severe, with the roof of Tropicana Field being torn off and the city’s water system shut down due to main breaks. The hurricane also spawned tornadoes, causing fatalities and additional damage, particularly in St. Lucie County on the eastern side of the state.
Officials have mobilized extensive resources for the recovery effort, deploying thousands of National Guard troops and emergency response teams. Search and rescue operations are underway to assist residents trapped by rising floodwaters, and the state is coordinating with federal agencies like FEMA to provide relief and aid in the recovery process.
Although Milton caused severe destruction, it was not as catastrophic as initially feared, especially for vulnerable areas like Tampa Bay, which was spared from the worst-case scenario. The state’s infrastructure has been significantly impacted, with airports closing, highways crowded with evacuees, and fuel supplies being strained as the storm approached.
Florida is now in the process of recovery, with shelters open for those displaced by the storm, and federal and state resources being marshaled to aid in rebuilding efforts. Governor Ron DeSantis and President Joe Biden have been in communication to ensure a coordinated response to the disaster, emphasizing resilience and quick recovery for affected communities(

Rosie O’Donnell feels like the Menendez brothers big sister

Lyle and Erik Menendez have more than a friend in comedian Rosie O’Donnell. They have a big sister.

O’Donnell is speaking out about how she’s championed the brothers, who are currently locked behind bars in San Diego serving life sentences without the possibility of parole in the murders of their parents, Jose and Mary “Kitty” Menendez.

The men have seen a resurgence in their story thanks to documentaries and television series being made about them, most recently Netflix’s “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” which both brothers have condemned.

O’Donnell says their history is complex.

“I was out to lunch with Barbara Walters and our publicist Cindy Berger, and I said, ‘Barbara, you’re not going to believe this, but guess who wrote to me – Lyle Menendez,” O’Donnell told Variety. “Barbara said, ‘Ignore him, he’s a murderer. He’s very cunning.’”

In 1996, Walters famously interviewed both Lyle and Erik in prison.

O’Donnell admittedly didn’t respond, only entering the brothers’ lives two years ago after watching a documentary that included new evidence that supported Lyle and Erik’s story; they’d been molested by their father. O’Donnell spoke out on social media, and from there, a relationship was born.

“I got a call from Lyle’s wife – I didn’t even know he had a wife – asking if I would talk to him,” O’Donnell explained. “He called me on Mother’s Day last year.”

Since then, O’Donnell and the brothers have established a friendship of sorts, one that the former talk show host describes as almost familial.

“I feel like a big sister in a way. Lyle is one of the most lauded prisoners in the California prison system. You can’t ignore that. If he was sort of the psycho who was screaming at everyone and a maniac, would he have done hospice for the dying prisoners? Would he have done all of the things that he did that allowed him to finally get moved from San Francisco down to his brother because he had 10 years straight without one infraction? Nobody can mask their mental illness that much in 35 years. To be the extraordinary inmates that they both are is pretty damning testimony as well.”

She met Lyle for the first time last year, greeting the elder Menendez brother with a hug. “Then Erik came over to me, hugged me, and whispered in my ear, ‘Thank you for loving my brother.’ It was very, very moving to me.”

O’Donnell said that she and Lyle “talk a lot.”

“I told them I would do what I could with whatever dwindling fame I have to bring light to their story. I said, ‘It’s not the 90s, Lyle. I’m not on that show anymore,’” referencing her talk show that ended in 2002.

“I think if you feel strongly about something and you want to try to help society, you can use your voice because the children who are abused in their homes don’t have a voice. It’s up to the adults who were once those children to speak for them.”

The brothers have the potential to be resentenced, or even released, in light of new evidence being reviewed by George Gascón, the Los Angeles County district attorney, which he announced last week.

O’Donnell said she was privy to the groundbreaking decision before the media.

“As soon as the news dropped, I sent them a text and said, ‘It’s really happening. Now, put that smile on your face. Here we go.’ This is what they’ve been waiting for for so many decades, and it’s about time. I think that we, as a society, it’s time that we said, ‘We made a mistake, and we didn’t understand what we understand today.’ It’s kind of a miracle, but so deserving. I’m so thrilled for them.”

“They’re excited,” she continued. “They’re happy. I came in two years ago as a cheerleader. I told them then, ‘You’re going to get out of there.’ They didn’t really believe me, but I believe that the wrong will be righted. They’re still reticent to believe it’s going to happen.”

O’Donnell already has plans set up with Lyle if he is indeed released.

“I’ve always told Lyle that I will take him to Nobu because he thinks that’s the place to go,” she said of the luxury-chain Japanese-Peruvian restaurant frequented by celebrities. “Sometimes, I would talk to him at night, and I’d say that my friends and I went to Nobu for lunch. I’d say, ‘Buddy, when you get out, I’ll take you to Nobu.’ When I talked to him the other day, he said, ‘When are we going to Nobu?’ I said, ‘Sooner than you think.’

Mississippi teen murder suspect caught on camera in chilling footage after allegedly killing mother

Chilling video showed a Mississippi teen murder suspect’s nonchalant attitude after allegedly shooting and killing her mother, with the girl seen texting following the act.

The kitchen surveillance footage shown during the murder trial of the now 15-year-old Carly Gregg, captured the moments leading up to and following the alleged murder of her mom, Ashley Smylie, on March 19. Gregg was 14 when she allegedly used a .357 Magnum pistol to kill Smylie.

The harrowing footage shows Gregg hiding something behind her back and walking towards her bedroom just moments before the sounds of three gunshots ring out.

Following the alleged murder, Gregg is seen casually strolling back to the family’s kitchen and sitting on a stool. The family’s two Labrador retrievers were seen following her back to the kitchen area after the gunshots.

During her trial, prosecutors said that Gregg texted her stepdad, Heath Smylie, after the killing in an attempt to lure him home and ambush him.

When Heath Smylie took the stand, he testified that when he opened the kitchen door, “the gun went off in my face before the door was even three to four inches wide open, and everything kind of went pretty fast from there.”

“The gun flashed in my face,” he said. “It went off two more times, but my hand was on the gun after the first shot, and I twisted it from Carly.” Heath was shot in his shoulder during the encounter with Gregg, police said.

Heath said that his stepdaughter was “terrified” and that she was screaming so much “like she had seen a demon.”

“It looked like she was terrified,” he said. “She was screaming out of her mind, scared, like she had seen a demon, or something.”

In opening statements, Rankin County assistant DA Kathryn White Newman said that Ashley Smylie, a teacher at Northwest Rankin High School where her daughter was a student, learned from a friend of Gregg’s earlier that day she was smoking marijuana and had burner phones, WLBT reported, and when they got home, she found vape pens in her daughter’s bedroom.

Gregg was charged as an adult with murder, attempted murder and tampering with evidence.

According to the Clarion Ledger, she rejected a 40-year prison sentence plea deal, with her defense team pleading insanity.

Trump safe after gunshots in his vicinity

Former President Donald Trump was safe after the Secret Service fired at a gun-toting man outside Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, sources told Fox News.
Authorities are treating the case as a potential assassination attempt, and arrested a suspect, a U.S. official told Fox News. The man, who was not immediately identified, was allegedly armed with a rifle when agents fired at him.
“This does not appear to be some random guy with an AK-47 walking outside Trump’s club,” the official added.
Fox News’ Lucas Tomlinson confirmed that the Secret Service opened fire after they saw a man lift an AK-47. The suspect fled in a car, but was quickly apprehended, authorities said
Trump was on the fifth hole of his course when the shots rang out, prompting his protective detail to swarm him and usher him to the safety of the clubhouse. The incident may prove to be the second attempt on the former president’s life in just two months.
Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity, citing local law enforcement, said the suspect’s rifle was discovered in the bushes. Four shots were fired, Hannity also confirmed through local law enforcement. Hannity said Trump’s initial reaction inside the clubhouse was to make sure everyone was okay.
Fox News host Bret Baier also spoke to Trump, who praised the Secret Service for acting quickly. Trump reaffirmed to Baier that he was fine and there was no evidence any shots were near him or hitting near him.

“Tell everybody I am fine and the Secret Service did a great job,” Trump told Baier.
The Secret Service is working closely with authorities and investigating the situation, and U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland has been briefed
“The Secret Service, in conjunction with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating a protective incident involving former President Donald Trump that occurred shortly before 2 p.m. The former president is safe,” the agency confirmed in a post on X
The President and Vice President have been briefed about the security incident at the Trump International Golf Course, where former President Trump was golfing. They are relieved to know that he is safe. They will be kept regularly updated by their team,” the White House said in a statement.
Fox News Digital confirmed that the Attorney General has been briefed, is monitoring the situation, and is receiving regular updates following the security incident at Trump International Golf Course.
This latest shooting near Trump is nearly two months to the date of the assassination attempt on the former president’s life. Trump was shot in the ear during a July 13 rally in Butler, Pa. A man attending the rally, volunteer Fire Department Cat. Corey Comperatore, was killed by the gunman, who was shot dead by a Secret Service sniper.

Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell punches guitarist Dave Navarro onstage, shutting down concert

Members of the rock band Jane’s Addiction were brawling at their concert in Boston on Friday night.
In a video captured and shared on social media, frontman Perry Farrell could be seen throwing a punch at guitarist Dave Navarro in a heated exchange.
Farrell, 65, lunged his body in a forceful manner towards Navarro, 57, onstage. The guitarist appeared to place his hands on the frontman’s chest in an apparent bid to stop him from moving forward.
During the tense encounter, Farrell appeared to be yelling at Navarro until he threw a punch at the guitarist.
Security guards quickly broke up the fight and told Farrell to “stop,” while they held him down to prevent attacking the guitarist further.
Navarro grabbed Farrell’s arm, and he was enraged, as he attempted to attack the guitarist again.
Farrell’s wife, Etty Lau, spoke out about the altercation on her social media and explained the events that unfolded.
Rather than speculating, I thought to post a first person account of what happened on stage with Jane’s Addiction last night at the Lender Pavilion in Boston,” Lau wrote on her Instagram.
“Clearly there had been a lot of tension and animosity between the members.. the magic that made the band so dynamic. Well, the dynamite was lit. Perry got up in Dave’s face and body checked him,” she explained.
Lau added that the fight stemmed from Perry’s patience wearing thin, as his health wasn’t in the best condition ahead of the band’s performance.
Perry’s frustration had been mounting, night after night, he felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band,” she continued.
“Perry had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night. But when the audience in the first row, started complaining up to Perry, cussing at him that the band was [playing] too loud and that they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost it.”
In Lau’s lengthy post, she wrote that Eric Avery, the founding bass guitarist and co-songwriter of Jane’s Addiction, is the one who “won the fight.
Eric walked up to Perry, upstage, in the dark… put Perry in a headlock and punched him in the stomach three times. Kevin, crewmember with long hair… pulled Eric away. Then Eric, nonchalant, walked off to the front of the stage to apologize to [the] audience for the show [ending] early.
She went on to say that the aftermath of the concert brawl ended with Eric taking “a few cheap shots on Perry.
“Perry was a crazed beast for the next half an hour – he finally did not calm down, but did breakdown and cried and cried.
She accompanied her caption with a video of the Jane’s Addiction band members fighting on stage.
“Well, [that] is my first person account narrative of what happened. Take a look at the video yourself,” Lau concluded.
Reps for Jane’s Addiction did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
