Pensacola, Florida beach wedding ideas

0

If you’re set on a beach wedding then look no further than Pensacola Beach. With its white sand beaches, sparkling clear waters, and 343 days of sun each year. Plus, there are plenty of hotels and large homes along the beach for accommodating your guests.

There is a lot to consider when planning your beach wedding. Some things you may not have thought of with your traditional wedding. Here are some tips to help you.

1) First, make sure to check the weather reports in the area for what time the tides come in, when it sets, etc. so you can plan accordingly. December through February in Pensacola can be cold on the beach with average temperatures in the low 60’s.

2) You may want to plan your beach wedding around the annual events that take place in Pensacola. For example:

o February has the Mardi Gras Street Party
o April is the Jazz Festival
o July is the Blue Angels Air Show
o September is the Seafood Festival
o October is the Pensacola Interstate Fair
o November is the Blue Angels Homecoming Show
o December is the Winterfest Celebration

3) For summer weddings, have your reception in the evenings so you’ll be able to keep you guests cooler without the blaring sun.

4) If you planning your wedding around one of the Pensacola annual events, then keep the food along the same theme. See if you can find a special order bakery that will make you a Blue Angels cake. Or if you having it during the Seafood Festival have seafood as your main dish. Keep the food light with salads and fruits. Your guests likely won’t want to dine on heavier full course meals during hot temperatures.

5) Skip the confetti and the balloons. Confetti makes a mess on the beach that is hard to clean up. Besides, neither is good for the environment.

6) Keep you decorations to a minimum. Having too many decorations and colors will detract from the wedding and will give it a less-than-elegant feel.

7) For a wonderfully inexpensive idea, try scouring the beach for seashells, sand dollars, and other items. Use these for you wedding reception.

8) Christmas lights or lanterns will work better than candles, which can be easily blown out if there’s a gust of wind. Lanterns will last longer should the reception go long into the night.

9) Sand can be an issue on the beach. If you’d like to keep it as sand-free as possible, look into a pool side reception. There are quite a few resorts that will offer areas that are next to the beach.

10) Get an open-sided canopy. It helps to define the reception area and will provide protection from the sun (as well as the rain) while still allowing full view of the beautiful beach setting.

11) Go with light colors. They don’t retain heat like darker colors do and you’ll want to stay as comfortable as possible.

12) Need some music ideas? How about the Beach Boys, the Drifters “Under the Boardwalk”, “Summer Nights” from Grease, or Reggae music like Bob Marley and UB40. For a Naval oriented feel how about music from “Top Gun”.

13) For safety on the beach, hire your own lifeguard. This is especially important for your younger guests.

14) Pensacola offers a variety of attractions for your guests. Everything from fishing, chartering a boat, swimming, to taking a dolphin cruise. Dive the Oriskany artificial reef (the largest artificial reef ever created), scuba dive, or go snorkeling. From March through November you and your guest can watch the Blue Angel’s at the National Navel Aviation Museum. For more family oriented appeal there’s Sam’s Fun City with a water park and arcade games – home of Rocky and Bullwinkle.

15) And above all, have fun! By planning ahead and having others around to manage the numerous details you will help ensure the most enjoyable celebration.

Remains of missing Colorado boy found in Pensacola

0

(AP) — Human remains found in Florida are believed to be those of a Colorado boy reported missing in January by his stepmother, who was later arrested and charged with killing him, authorities said Friday.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said the remains of 11-year-old Gannon Stauch were found in Pace, on the Florida Panhandle. Investigators are asking for information from anyone who saw the boy’s stepmother, Letecia Stauch, in Pace or nearby Pensacola between Feb. 3 and Feb. 5.

Stauch reported Gannon missing Jan. 27, saying he never returned after leaving to go to a friend’s house. Authorities initially called him a runaway but three days later said he was considered missing and endangered due to his age, the amount of time he had been gone and his dependence on medication. After a search that lasted for weeks came up empty, investigators presumed the boy was dead and arrested the stepmother in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on March 2.

She is being represented by the state public defender’s office, which does not comment on cases.

Stauch was brought back to Colorado and charged with first-degree murder, child abuse resulting in death, tampering with a body and tampering with physical evidence. FBI Denver special agent Dean Phillips has said “all evidence points to the disappearance of Gannon being foul play.”

A judge sealed the sworn statement that explains the reason for Stauch’s arrest, and investigators and prosecutors have declined to discuss the details of the case. News organizations, including The Associated Press, are suing for the release of the document.

Fishing in Pensacola region of Florida is a thrilling experience. There are 2 major types of fishing done in this region – freshwater fishing and saltwater fishing. Lets us look at them in greater detail:

• Freshwater Pensacola fishing: freshwater fishing is done in the Escambia River.

This river is the biggest freshwater body in this region.

It originates in the Alabama and ends into the bay.

The river passes through several interesting places which you will be able to locate in your fishing sprees. You will come across the swamphouse, the power plant, the white creek etc.

Deep sea fishing: it is a sport which is practiced in full spirit in this region. To some people, it is regarded as a method to earn their daily living. This form of fishing has gained tremendous popularity.

A huge number of improved equipments, and charters have come up which facilitate deep sea fishing. The risk involved has been reduced to a great extent as a result of these improved techniques and fishing has become a much safer and an easier exercise.

Fishing tricks of Pensacola saltwater

4

If you are not acquainted with Pensacola it is one of the most popular holiday spots in Florida.

The place is rich in its history and hospitality but what it is best known for is fishing. Pensacola saltwater fishing is a very renowned term amongst all enthusiasts in fishing. The saltwater fishes are generally bigger in size than the fresh water fishes and every year a lot of people drop in just to enjoy the bliss of fishing in this venue. Pensacola fishing indeed is no easy job and hence here are a few tricks which will help you catch your share of fish at Pensacola.

Summer is the ideal time for fishing in this region as except for the occasional noon thunderstorms the waters of Pensacola remain calm for most of the times. The best thing to get from the local bait store here is a packet of rigged ballyhoo. I suggest you cool it on ice till you actually need them as baits. Check all the fishing gear and see to it that everything is in order.

The best place for fishing here is somewhat 2 miles from the Pensacola pass. Get here unpack all your gear and get to work. Take out the ballyhoo. You will need to break the bill and then snap them up. Now throw the baits in the water at an approximate distance of about 20 to 30 yards. It is actually easier to keep the lines untangled while operating the boat. The best option is to keep the lines behind the boat as this gives you no room for trouble at all. This was for people who love trolling however if trolling isn’t the thing for you then you should try drift fishing. This is much simpler. You can use cigar minnows as bait and sit down on any quite place you like along the gulf. Try avoiding the channel as the amount of boat traffic it sees make it the worst fishing ground. Now when you reach a quite spot kill your engine but make it a point not to anchor. You also need not use a weight or a bobber in this type of fishing. Just throw the bait and let the tide get it.

During summers you will also find patches of grass floating round in the gulf. The locals refer to it as June grass. These are the best fishing grounds as the grass provides shade from the sunlight and also gives life to crabs, etc. My suggestion is when you see any patch of grass troll ahead and try to catch a few fish there.

The winters are good too but I would advise you to stay close to the shores coz the winds often get turbulent. You should go fishing around the pass in this season. You often get lucky here catching beautiful fish. Use sting ray grubs, cut bait and shrimps here. One also has the option of Pensacola Charter fishing here which though a bit on the expensive side is more fun too.
