2 boys killed, 2 men injured in Richmond shooting


RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Two boys were killed and two men were seriously injured in a shooting in Richmond at night.

Richmond police who responded to a report of shots fired on Nine Mile Road found four people with life-threatening gunshot wounds. The victims were taken to a local hospital where the two juveniles died. Police did not immediately release the names and ages of the victims

Mayor Levar Stoney extended his sympathies to the families of the victims. “We will bring those who perpetrated this horrible crime to justice, and we will strengthen our efforts to curb gun violence and address the root causes that lead to these senseless acts,” Stoney said in a news release.

Police Chief Gerald Smith said detectives are working vigorously to investigate the shooting “Gun violence leaves everyone traumatized and we must take a stand against violence together,” Smith said in a news release.
