Texas school shooting, suspect in custody

Police said the suspect, who has been identified as Timothy George Simpkins, 18, was charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault with a gun. Most students have been safely evacuated from Timberview High School.

At least four people were wounded after gunfire erupted at morning at the high school in Arlington, Texas.

Three people have been hospitalized, but no fatalities were reported.

A teenage female is in “good condition,” a 25-year-old man is in “good condition” and a 15-year-old male is in “critical condition,” according to reporter Kelli Smith, who cited Tim Ciesco of the Arlington Police Department.

The gunman fled the scene after the shooting, Police said Simpkins possibly was driving a silver Dodge Charger.

Earlier Wednesday, police searched for the suspect at a nearby residence in the 8000 block of South Collins Street in Arlington, according to reporter Megan Cardona.

Arlington Assistant Police Chief Kevin Kolbye told the AP two of the four injured people were shot. Three of the four were taken to hospitals, and the other refused treatment, the AP reported.

Authorities announced an “all-clear” at the school shortly after noon ET.

At least one other school has been placed on lockdown, according to news outlet KDKA.

Gunshots were heard being fired inside Timberview High School, according to a parent who posted on Twitter.

Dallas Texas TV shared video of an apparent altercation before gunfire erupted.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said the shooting “started as a fight which escalated,” according to reporter Joe Galli.

The Mansfield Independent School District is working to bus students away from the location

Students and staff were locked in classrooms or offices while police searched the building, the school district said.

A teacher inside the school at the time shared a photo to social media showing a makeshift barricade of desks and chairs stacked against a door after he and students heard shots “fired just down the hall from our classroom.”

A mother shared some texts from her son while the shooting was happening at Timberview, according to reporter Jason Allen.
