PEORIA (WEEK) — Officials say two people were hospitalized with serious injuries Saturday morning after a single-vehicle accident.
Around 1:30 a.m., Peoria firefighters and paramedics were called to the 2700 block of W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive for a vehicle accident with rollover and entrapment.
Officials say upon arrival, a pickup truck was found on its top in a ditch with the driver still inside unable to move.
The passenger was out of the vehicle upon arrival and was treated by paramedics before being transported to a local hospital.
According to officials, the vehicle had to be stabilized before Jaws of Life were used to remove a door and gain access to the driver.
The driver was then removed from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital.
Officials say bot occupants of the truck are thought to have possible serious, but non-life threatening, injuries.
11 firefighters assisted in the stabilization of the vehicle and the rescue of the occupants.
