RUTLAND (WEEK) — Thanks to the help of several organizations, a family in LaSalle County now has access to some high quality H20.
A water well was donated to the family of Jason Drummet and Brad Applen of Rutland.
For more than a year, the family’s well was out of commission, forcing them to rely on a cistern and rain water, as well as truck deliveries – which would cost hundreds of dollars per load.
Retired NFL player Chris Long teamed up with Xylem Water Solutions and two other organizations for the “Hometown H20 Program.”
“Just being able to not have two to three backed up loads of laundry or dishes. Now we’ll be able to stay on top of that and have a normal life. That’s what’s most important to us,” Drummet said.
Organizers say around 2 million Americans are struggling to get access to clean water. Launched in 2020, this was the sixth joint Hometown H20 project for the Chris Long Foundation.
