PEORIA (WEEK) – The annual budget proposal summitted by the Peoria County Administrator will subtract positions in different offices while bringing back almost 70 jobs. The multiple staffing changes are evaluated each year by the executive board. Three positions to be eliminated are in the County Auditor’s Office.

“Positions being eliminated they technically would be facing a lay off come January one, But, currently we have over seventy positions that are posted and vacant across the entire organization and they have the ability to apply for those” says Scott Sorrel, Peoria County Administrator.

He says the focus should be on the fact that the recommendations will be adding jobs. Almost half of the recommended jobs are coming back after being removed almost a year ago due to budget cuts from the COVID-19 pandemic.
