Scattered showers are possible through midday Monday, mainly for communities along and east of the Illinois River. Skies should become partly cloudy by the afternoon, with high temperatures in the low to mid 80s. Dry weather is expected for the start of the evening.
Thunderstorm chances will increase after 11 PM, ahead of a passing cold front. Some storms could be strong to severe, with damaging wind gusts possible. The threat will persist through the overnight hours.
Cool air follows into Tuesday, with highs in the upper 60s.
