PEORIA (WEEK) – The outdoor concert where four legged friends are the guests of honor was back in Peoria Sunday.
Dog owners were encouraged to bring their cooler, lawn chair and their pooch to Woofstock. Woofstock is the biggest fundraiser for SAMS, a no-kill animal shelter in Hanna City. The West MacQueen Street Band kept the four hour festival groovy while guests enjoyed vendors, fun stations for both people and pets, a costume contest, food and beverages, a silent auction, and of course, quality time with their best friend.
“There’s not a lot to do in the area when it comes to a big music festivals that you can bring dogs,” SAMS Shelter Manager Alex Menke said. “And we like to bring that, because we like to have fun but we know our furry friends do too, so we’ve got everything here to cater to them.”
SAMS encourages everyone to adopt when they’re looking for a pet. Organizers say now is a great time to adopt. The shelters are full with many furry friends looking for their forever home.
