PEORIA HEIGHTS (WEEK) – This weekend, the Illinois Art League had the honor of hosting an art festival in Peoria Heights as part of the first ever Bridge to Bridge River Drive.

The River Drive is a new event designed to connect the Illinois River communities of Peoria Heights, Chillicothe, Lacon and Spring Bay. The goal is to shed light on these four towns and the great things going on in their communities. Artists offered a variety of creations for sale, from ceramics and fiber arts to photos and paintings.

“I hope people leave with a better appreciation of what we do and what we have to offer, and the multitude of talent that is in this area,” event Coordinator Ruth Inman said. “Art, I think, is vital to your being. I mean without art, I wouldn’t exist. I’d be kind of dead and flat.”

Artists and organizers hope guests find something they’ll like to buy, and go home with a new, locally made piece.
