Shanta Oehkle traveled an hour from Peoria to be there.

“I was excited, I mean its been a very long time since I’ve been to a prom,” Oehkle continued, “I also think we’re here to be ourselves and not have to worry about anything.”

As the night ended, Oehkle said she would remember the friends she made and dancing the night away.
