PEORIA (WEEK) – This week the nation is reflecting on the unprecedented terror attacks that happened on Sept. 11, 2001.

25 News spoke to a local couple on Wednesday who still have visceral memories from that day:

“When we walked into the next classroom, that’s when it was, they showed us, like it was on all the T.V.’s in the high school. What was going on, I just remember sitting there not knowing what was happening, and the whole school shut down just to watch what was going on.”

-AJ, Peoria resident

“After the fact, classes did not resume. I would go to school as a senior and I did not get class. It was just something we talked about it. Like they were disturbed by it as a teacher, and us as students were disturbed by it. Like, what does this mean for our economy? What does this mean for us as an American culture?”

-Amanda, Peoria resident
