Peoria Art Guild announces in-person 2021 Fine Art Fair

PEORIA (WEEK) — The 2021 Fine Art Fair is making its in-person return to the Peoria Riverfront — September 25-26.

This year’s emerging artist is Hattie Lee — who is originally from Fowler, Kansas and received her MFA from Bradley in 2021 and now works and resides in Peoria.

In a release, the Peoria Art Guild said the fair draws around 8,000 people each year and is nationally recognized for its organization, volunteers, event marketing and, “unlike most fairs, for putting artists’ needs at the top of the priority list.”

She desires her art to open conversations and be a starting point to discussing tribes, Native Americans past and present, and the many nuances of being descended from Native cultures in a world growing increasingly diverse in numerous ways with every generation.

This also includes her time in Southeast Asia and the friendships she has made globally.

The Peoria Art Guild loved Hattie’s artwork so much that they have also chosen her as the 2021 poster artist. This year’s t-shirts, posters and community mural will be designed around her colorful artwork. according to the release.

The fair opens at 9:45 am Saturday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Peoria Chamber of Commerce followed by a drum line performance from Manual High School to celebrate the event’s 59th year.

Tickets are $6 presale and $8 at the event while children 12 and under are free. Members of the Peoria Art Guild are also free. The event is 10-5 pm Saturday, September 25 and 10-4 pm Sunday, September 26.

The event will have hand sanitizing stations throughout the fair and artists and patrons are welcome to wear masks as needed. The art guild asks those to be conscious of the personal space of others while shopping throughout the weekend.
