Bloomington Police release more photos of missing ISU graduate student

BLOOMINGTON (WEEK) – Bloomington Police are releasing more information about the whereabouts of Illinois State University graduate student Jelani Day before he disappeared last week.

Police said they’ve obtained surveillance video, and are now releasing still photos from that video, of Day entering Beyond/Hello, a cannabis dispensary at 1515 North Veterans Parkway.

The video shows Day at the store Tuesday, August 24, at 9:12 a.m. Earlier, police released surveillance photos of Day at ISU’s Bone Student Center that same morning about 7:20 a.m.

At the cannabis dispensary, Day appeared to be wearing a blue Detroit Lions baseball hat, a black tee shirt with a unique graphic (Jimi “Hendrix” band shirt), white/silver shorts, and black shoes with white soles. The exterior surveillance video also shows Day’s white Chrysler 300 in the parking lot of the business.

Police said Day won’t be wearing the clothing because it was found in his car when police discovered the vehicle hidden in woods on the afternoon of Thursday, August 26, in the LaSalle County city of Peru, in north central Illinois.

Police said they’re asking for leads from anyone who may have seen Day or someone matching his description between 9:15 a.m. on August 24 and 4:20 p.m. on August 26 when he was wearing that outfit.

Anyone with information about Day’s whereabouts is asked to call Bloomington Police Detective Paul Jones at 309-434-2548. Detective Jones can also be contacted at
