40th Annual Irish Fest wraps up along Peoria’s Riverfront

PEORIA (WEEK) — A 40-year tradition celebrating Irish culture is back and wrapping up Sunday along Peoria’s Riverfront.

Hundreds of people came out to the Peoria Irish Fest enjoying food, live music and vendor’s merchandise.

People dressing up in traditional Irish clothing and played sports like shotput and Irish dancing.

K.C. Murphy had been apart of the fest for over two decades. He said the fest was not only about the fun, but educating people about Irish culture.

“I just really enjoy doing it it’s a lot of fun,” Murphy continued, “I encourage everybody to get involved, this is my 24th year. I’ve made a lot of good friends here and I think a lot of people really enjoy coming down and seeing what we have to offer.”

Murphy said he was excited to be apart of other events the St. Patrick Society puts on this year.
