NORMAL (Heart of Illinois ABC) — Lovers of corn and the circus got a chance to enjoy both at the Sweet Corn Circus in Uptown Normal Saturday.
Celebrating the corn fields and circus roots of the Twin Cities, many took to the Uptown Circle to enjoy sweet corn on the cob.
The community also showed support to several vendors from local shops, restaurants and non-profits that also got out for the festivities.
And members of the Illinois State University Gamma Phi Circus showed off some of their signature tricks.
Mike Trubshaw of Gamma Phi Circus said the event was the first time the circus performed for a crowd in person since December 2019.
“It’s just great to be back into the community and have a live audience in front of us and to get that energy that we haven’t had for a while,” Trubshaw said. “I’m so happy to be back. I’m thrilled really.”
Gammi Phi Circus will continue performances Sunday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and some lucky kids will get to join the to learn some tricks from members of the circus.
