BLOOMINGTON (WEEK) — Grossinger Motors Arena was the site of an all-new free family friendly festival experience Saturday.
The ice breaker event was a way to not only invite the community back to the arena but to also showcase the groups that use the arena and the Bloomington Ice Center.
Ice Center Manager Michael Hernbrott said this is the first of what they want to be an annual event.
Every year when they put the ice back in the arena side, they want to invite the community to come “break” it in.
“It’s about to kind of remind people that even though it is 80, 90 degrees out and all that, ice skating and hockey is starting to come in,” Hernbrott said. “Start to sign-up for classes. But it’s just a fun event, free event to get kids out here and have a great time.”
The ice center booked 450 hours for community clubs before the pandemic. Now and after the pandemic, they expect that to be even higher.
