FULTON COUNTY (WEEK) – It took only two days for a candidate to come forward to replace retiring Fulton County Sheriff Jeff Standard.

Sgt. Jon Webb, the chief detective of the department’s investigation’s division, announced Wednesday he’s running for sheriff in the 2022 election.

Webb is a lifelong Fulton County and a 2005 Lewistown High School graduate. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration, with a minor in history.

Webb started his law enforcement career with the Lewistown Police Department in 2009. He’s been with the sheriff’s office since 2011.

Incumbent Sheriff Standard announced Monday he’s not running for reelection. Webb is the first to formally announce a run to become Standard’s replacement.
