PEORIA (WEEK)- After being closed for nearly two years, the Montessori Academy of Peoria is reopening.

Director Sue Kim says when the pandemic hit they made the decision to close completely, as they didn’t think they could successfully teach hands-on learning for young children via zoom. However, after many parents requested the school reopen, Kim made it her mission to find a safe place for students to return.

Kim was able to find open space at First Christian Church on University Street. One parent, Lindsay Craig, says she’s happy to have her child back in this setting.

“Our children are very confident because they’ve built such a strong foundation here. They see that they can accomplish everything,” Craig said. “They feel very connected, everyone’s willing to help each other. It’s just a very loved environment.”

If you’re interested in registering your child at the Montessori Academy, you can go to their new location at 6400 N. University St. for more information.
