PEORIA (WEEK) – A 66-year old Peoria man has been identified as the person who died Wednesday morning when fire swept through his home.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood identified the victim as Scott W. Stanard, who was pronounced dead at the fire scene at 5006 North Endres Avenue.

The coroner said an autopsy showed Stanard suffered severe smoke inhalation and he was badly burned.

Harwood also said no foul play is suspected, although the fire department is still investigating the cause.

When fire crews arrived about 4:50 a.m., they reported seeing heavy fire and smoke coming from the side and roof of the single-story home. The house is considered a total loss.

The fire department said 26 Peoria firefighters battled the blaze. Fire officials said no firefighters were injured.
