PEKIN (WEEK) — The lobby of the Pekin Police Department will be open as a cooling center, the department announced on Facebook.
Cold water and air conditioning will be available to those who need it.
The department urges people to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room and to check on relatives and neighbors.
Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
