138 grams of suspected cocaine and $20K in U.S. currency seized after arrest in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON (WEEK) – $14K worth of cocaine was seized after police arrested 49-year-old Michael Oates on Sunday.

The drugs were found during a traffic stop after Bloomington Police searched Oates’ car. He was initially pulled over at approximately 3:44 p.m. for an active warrant for failure to appear and driving on a revoked license.

After police found 138 grams of cocaine and $20K in cash in the car, the charge of delivering a controlled substance was added.

Oates is being held at the Mclean County Jail with his bond set at $250K, meaning he has to come up with $25K in cash to be released.

His next court date is scheduled for September 3 at 9:00 a.m.
