PEORIA (WEEK) — Relevant Faith Church held its annual Back-to-School Bash Sunday evening to help provide supplies for students in preparation for their return to the classroom.
For the past five years, the church has held the event to give away free socks and underwear to any students and families who need it.
The church also teams up with Woodruff Barber School and Purpose Barber Shop to offer free haircuts so students look fresh come fall.
Only about 30 minutes into the two-hour event, 75 pairs of socks and underwear, and 50 free haircuts were already given away.
“The biggest thing that is important about this event is it is actually meeting a practical need for families. We want to bring a lot of community resources together to meet needs of the community,” lead pastor Mike Womer said. “I feel like when there is a lot of people, a lot of hands together, we are doing a lot of good together in the community.”
Pastor Womer said after COVID-19 canceled last year’s event, it was great to get back to serving those who need it most.
