PEORIA COUNTY (WEEK) — Illinois State Police have released more details on the crash that killed 22-year-old Ian Nemeth Jr. of Loda.

According to a preliminary state police investigation, Nemeth Jr. was traveling southbound on Route 29 in the northbound lanes, east of East Riverview Court in Peoria County at around 3:10 a.m. on August 7.

That’s when Nemeth Jr. collided head-on with a 2013 white Toyota Prius, state police said in a release.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Nemeth Jr. was located in the roadway of Route 29 south of the vehicles, unresponsive, not breathing and with no pulse, and was pronounced deceased just before 4:00 a.m.

Route 29 was shut down for around five hours for the investigation.
