PEORIA (WEEK) — Peoria fire officials said one person was hospitalized after their vehicle careened over a bridge and rolled over Sunday morning.

Around 10:30 a.m., rescue crews responded to Radnor Road at the Route 6 overpass for a report of a vehicle that rolled over with possible entrapment.

Officials say upon arrival, crews found there was one person who was injured and would need to be extricated.

An investigation found the vehicle was reportedly traveling northbound on Route 6 when it left the roadway and careened over the bridge, coming to a rest on its top on Radnor Road.

Crews were able to access the driver’s side door, where they removed the victim and transported them to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials say 13 firefighters assisted in the rescue.
