PEORIA (WEEK) – Changes may soon be on the way to Glen Oak park in Peoria.
The Peoria Parks District revealed plans Tuesday for a fully accessible playground, recreation shelters, restrooms and basketball courts. In order to do that, they’re proposing removing the Glen Oak Amphitheatre.
But, Executive Director Emily Cahill says they have to make tough choices in order to better serve the community.
“I cannot wait to see where this journey takes us,” Cahill said during a Tuesday news conference. “But I do know for sure that our community is changing and if we don’t take this opportunity to as a park district to change with it, then, we are stepping back in to safety, which is not how we serve you best.”
People can submit feedback by emailing email@example.com, or by using the “Contact Us” page on the park district’s website.
The district will also hold two meetings to get public input on the changes on August 16 and September 1.
