PEORIA (HOI) — The Harmonie of the Peoria German American Society hosted a Bratfest celebration on Sunday.
There was also a celebration for Swiss Independence Day.
The festivities took place at Hickory Grove Park, showcasing authentic German culture. Fans of food could enjoy traditional dished like bratwurst and schnitsel.
Music fans had their pick of live music like Al’s Pals and the Lindenhof Echoes or accordion music.
People were invited to test their strength in a Stein Holding competition.
Linda Doling, was someone who came out to help cook the food. She said that the celebration had a lot of gemütlichkeit, “which means sharing our friendship and ourselves and our culture So that everybody has a very fun, family oriented experience.”
The festival went on from noon until 8 p.m.
