Peoria, Ill — The Promise Academy announced their plan to rename their gymnasium to honor the late Coach Wayne McClain.
School staff member Bishop Timothy Criss said the goal was for the gym to be completely transformed in honor of Coach McClain.
The Promise Academy gym is where McClain began his coaching career.
“Who’s a better person than coach Wayne McClain to be remembered for some of the things he did and some of the things that are residual here in the City of Peoria. The basketball legacy goes on,” Bishop Criss said.
The new gym would reflect McClain’s career through memorabilia provided by his family.
The remodel is set to be completed in the fall.
