PEORIA (WEEK) – According to State’s Attorney, Jodi Hoos, two counts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Class X Felonies, have been filed against Shavaun Leemon.

Leemon fired a handgun at two Peoria County Sheriff’s Deputies on July 30. His bond was set at 1 million dollars.

On July 30, deputies were dispatched regarding multiple incidents involving the defendant. He had been in a hit and run accident earlier in the day as well as a shooting.

When deputies observed the defendant they repeatedly told him to stop. Rather than comply, the defendant fired multiple rounds at the deputies. At least 9 shell casings were located. No one was injured.

The case is continuing to be investigated by the Illinois State Police as the deputies fired their weapons in return. Additional charges are expected to be filed against the defendant.
