PEORIA (WEEK) – Peoria Police have said Friday they arrested an 18-year old man for a shooting that killed one person and wounded three others in a shooting in the North Valley late on July 4.
Police said in a news release they arrested Eric Jackson, 18, on Wednesday for an outstanding warrant in the 4300 block of West Rockwell Road. Police said they captured Jackson after getting out of a vehicle running from officers.
After interviewing him, police said they arrested Jackson for first degree murder and three counts of aggravated battery with a firearm for the shooting in the 600 block of Haungs Avenue in the North Valley.
Jackson is accused of shooting-to-death Michael Anthony Charles Johnson II of Peoria, who was pronounced brain dead July 5 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
Authorities said a juvenile male sustained multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds and was listed in critical condition. Two others, a juvenile female and a adult male, suffered non-life threatening wounds, according to police.
Jackson initially faced weapons and marijuana possession charges after police said they obtained a warrant to search for evidence inside a vehicle and a residence.
