MILFORD, Del. (AP) — A 33-year-old Lincoln woman was killed when the car she was driving crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a tractor trailer in Milford on morning, Delaware State Police said.

The crash happened on Canterbury Road when a northbound Toyota Prius crossed the double yellow line and hit a southbound tractor trailer, police said in a news release. After the impact, police said the Prius spun around and the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the car. The car and the driver came to rest on the grass shoulder of the northbound lane.

The driver of the severely damaged tractor trailer couldn’t steer, and the tractor trailer crossed the northbound lane and went off the side of the road, where it hit several trees, police said.

The Prius driver was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.
