* Until 115 PM CDT Saturday.
* At 1255 AM CDT, emergency management reported flooding and
numerous road closures between Leroy, Downs, and Heyworth. The
closures include: County Highway 29 1.5 miles south of Downs,
County Road 21 1 mile north of Leroy, and the Leroy-Lexington
Blacktop between 800 North and 500 North. Flooding is ongoing. As
much as 6 to 8 inches of rain fell in the past day to produce the
flooding. Although no more rain is expected overnight, flooding
will take time to subside.
Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Le Roy, Heyworth, Downs, McLean, Saybrook, Arrowsmith, Ellsworth,
Holder and Moraine View State Park.
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
