MCLEAN COUNTY (WEEK) — The McLean County Coroner has identified a man killed in a single-car crash in rural Ellsworth on Monday.

The driver of that car has been identified as Daniel Engler, age 40, of Bloomington.

The coroner says an autopsy indicated Engler died of “positional asphyxia and blunt injuries” to his neck. He was wearing a seatbelt.

The car crashed early Monday evening at the intersection of 2675 East and 1000 North Rd. in Ellsworth.

A release on Tuesday said Engler apparently lost control on the gravel road, went off the road, and overturned.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On other person was in the car at the time, and that passenger was taken to a local hospital, where their condition has not been released.
