A man shot and killed near the 10th hole on a Georgia golf course has been identified as a local golf pro.

Gene Siller was working at the Pinetree Country Club, near Kennesaw, just before 2:30 p.m. when a suspect shot him, according to the Cobb County Police Department

“All of us at the GSGA are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred earlier today at Pinetree CC,” the Georgia State Golf Association said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Gene Siller’s family and friends.”Police responded to the golf course after calls about shots fired and found Siller dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. There, they also found a white Ram 3500 pickup truck with two men dead in the truck bed, both also from apparent gunshot wounds.

One man, the owner of the truck, has been identified as Paul Pierson. The other, believed to be Hispanic, has not been identified.

The suspect is still outstanding, police said.

The Kennesaw State Office of Emergency Management sent out an alert about a long-haired Hispanic man, about 6′1″ and 170 pounds, wearing a white or tan T-shirt and dark-colored work pants.

Just before 5 p.m. Saturday, the school gave students the all clear to resume normal activities.
