WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — Two people, one a 14-year-old, were shot just minutes apart at night in Delaware’s largest city.
Wilmington police say the first shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. when a 57-year-old man was struck. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
About eight minutes later the teenage boy was shot a couple of blocks away, according to police. He was also in stable condition.
When asked if the incidents were related, a spokesperson for the city’s police department told the News Journal the incidents “remain under investigation.”
A third shooting in Wilmington earlier Friday left a 22-year-old dead.
According to the newspaper, the shootings come on the heels of a violent June, when 25 people were shot in the city. That’s the most in a single month since last September, when 23 people were shot.
