A man has been jailed for 12 years for raping a woman he met on Plenty of Fish.
Dave Wilby, 35, attacked the victim in her own home while her children were asleep upstairs.
He had described himself on the website as a ‘nice, honest decent guy’ and asked her out for a drink.
However, she turned him down so he went to her house at the end of December last year.
Wilby told her ‘It’s me, from Plenty of Fish’.
She asked him to leave her house repeatedly before he raped her. He ran off when he was disturbed by one of the children.
The next day she confided in her family who told her to go to police and Wilby was arrested the same day.
He denied rape but was found guilty in July at Norwich Crown Court. He’s now been jailed for 12 years and ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for life.
Detective Constable Amy Beck said: ‘This was a horrendous attack on a woman who was in the safety of her own home.
‘It has had a profound impact on the victim who had no intention of meeting with Wilby that evening having only recently started chatting with him on Plenty of Fish.
‘What makes this case even more shocking is the fact Wilby committed the offence knowing the victim’s children were upstairs.
‘Such a stranger attack is extremely rare in Norfolk and we would like to commend the victim for the bravery she has shown throughout this investigation.
‘We hope such a sentence will give her sense of closure, and that she can now move on more positively with her life.’
