35-year-old man shot, killed on Syracuse’s North Side

Syracuse, N.Y. — A 35-year-old Syracuse man was shot and killed at morning in the 200 block of Merrill Street, according to Syracuse police.

The man has not yet been identified.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Merrill Street, one of the last streets in the city on the North Side of Syracuse, for a reported shooting, police said.

The officers found the man, who had been shot in the chest, according to Syracuse police spokesman Matthew Malinowski. The man who had been shot was pronounced dead at the scene, Malinowski said.

His murder is the 14th in Syracuse this year, matching last year’s total through July 1 of last year.
