1 dead, 1 injured as vehicle crashes in Escambia County during shooting

One person was found shot and killed inside a crashed car in Escambia County overnight. Another victim in the car was hospitalized.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is holding a 4 p.m. press conference.

Deputies were called to the scene at Hollywood Ave.

and Fairfield Drive around 1 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a car in a ravine with bullet holes.

According to the sheriff’s office, the fatal victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds, There’s no word yet on the extent of the second victim’s injuries.

Deputies say both victims had to be extricated from the car.

“On the scene, multiple shell casings were located,” the sheriff’s office says in a press release. “The ECSO has all major crimes units and numerous other units actively investigating this homicide.”

The victims have not yet been identified by authorities. However, family tells Channel 3 that the fatal victim is Ladarius Clardy — a standout football player at Pine Forest High who had been attending Kennesaw State University as a member of the football team.

An investigation is ongoing.
