LITTLE HEAVEN, Del. (AP) — A Maryland man is dead after his car crossed the median on a Delaware highway and struck two vehicles headed in the other direction, police said.
The crash happened at night on state Route 1 in Kent County, Delaware State Police said in a news release. A 63-year-old man from Rock Hall, Maryland, was headed south on state Route 1 when, for unknown reasons, police said the Nissan Altima he was driving crossed the median and hit a northbound Ford Flex, tearing the left rear wheel from the SUV. The Altima then hit a northbound Toyota Camry, spun around and stopped after lightly striking a guard rail.
The Rock Hall man was not properly restrained and he was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the Camry was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that weren’t thought to be life threatening and the driver of the Flex wasn’t injured, police said.
