DEWITT COUNTY (WEEK) — Illinois Conservation Police say they are searching for suspects after a patrol vehicle was struck early Saturday morning.

Police say around 1:00 a.m., a fully marked vehicle was parked with its emergency lights activated during a traffic control check along a flooded roadway on Route 54.

The suspect struck the vehicle and fled – police say they were last seen traveling eastbound on Route 54 toward Farmer City.

Police say the suspect vehicle is a dark-colored pickup, extended or quad cab with tinted windows and aftermarket exhaust – possibly diesel-fueled.

They say it should have damage to the front, driver’s side fender, bumper and headlight.

According to officials, evidence was gathered at the crash scene that might help assist in the investigation.
