At 723 PM CDT /823 PM EDT/, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms
producing heavy rain across the southeast half of Benton County,
while heavy rain has ended for the remainder of the advisory area.
Radar estimates that between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain fell in the
afternoon and early evening on top of significant rainfall over the
past few days. Minor flooding is likely ongoing across much of the
advisory area due to runoff from the heavy rain.
Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Rensselaer, Watseka, Paxton, Gibson City, Fowler, Kentland,
Milford, Otterbein, Remington, Onarga, Oxford, Sheldon, Goodland,
Brook, Cissna Park, Boswell, Buckley, Earl Park, Stockland and
Hanging Grove.
Additional rainfall of up to 1 inch is expected over Benton County.
Expect flooding of creeks, ditches, farmland, roadways, and and
other low lying areas.
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles. Do not attempt to walk across any flooded
roads.
