BUREAU COUNTY (WEEK) — Illinois State Police say three people were hospitalized after a traffic accident Saturday afternoon.
24-year-old Austin Albert of Morris, 23-year-old Rami Halabi of Crystal Lake, and 24-year-old Moira Dunn of Riverside were transported to a local area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Officials say the vehicle – a 2009 Nissan Xterra pulling a trailer – was traveling eastbound on Interstate-80 at milepost 47 in the left lane.
An investigation found the driver of the vehicle veered left in order to avoid a collision with another vehicle that had drifted into the left lane.
Police say for unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle and veered to the right before overturning through the center median and coming to rest across both westbound lanes.
Police closed all westbound lanes on I-80 for a little over an hour in order to investigate the accident.
