MCLEAN, COUNTY (WEEK) — McLean County Sheriff’s deputies showed how they are more than just a badge.
After learning an elderly woman in the community was scammed out of some repair work on her roof, deputies took it up themselves Thursday to patch up as much as they could before the rain could do more damage.
Sheriff John Sandage says this act by department deputies is just an example of what being in law enforcement is all about.
“Our deputies take tried in being able to help the citizens. It’s all about protecting and serving and this is part of the serving,” Sandage said. “It’s not about going out and writing tickets and arresting anybody you can. It’s about helping people whatever way you can.”
Sandage added the case is under investigation and people who also experience the same type of fraud should report incidents to police.
