Man shot, killed by Abilene police

Abilene Police Department responded to a welfare call just after midnight on the 1300 Block of Grape Street in response to a female who claimed a 61-year-old armed man was outside, and she feared he was going to hurt her and himself.
Upon arrival, officers encountered an armed male pacing outside who was behaving erratically, according to Abilene Police Department. Officers attempted to negotiate with the male while he was pointing the gun at himself multiple times, before pointing it at officers. Officers shot the armed male and medical aid was rendered. He was taken to Hendrick Medical Center and later pronounced dead.
The male was identified as Robert Acosta-Reyes.
Officers and the female were not injured. Two officers have been placed on administrative leave, according to police.
The incident is still under investigation.
