The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a

* Flood Advisory for…
Livingston County in central Illinois…
Ford County in east central Illinois…
Iroquois County in east central Illinois…
Kankakee County in northeastern Illinois…
Benton County in northwestern Indiana…
Jasper County in northwestern Indiana…
Southern Lake IN County in northwestern Indiana…
Newton County in northwestern Indiana…
Southern Porter County in northwestern Indiana…

* Until 230 AM CDT /330 AM EDT/.

* At 837 PM CDT /937 PM EDT/, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms
producing heavy downpours across portions of the advisory area.
Additional thunderstorms with heavy rain will be moving into the
area, which has already received significant rainfall since
Thursday. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have already fallen in
portions of the advisory area.

Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Kankakee, Bourbonnais, Bradley, Pontiac, Lowell, Manteno,
Rensselaer, Watseka, Paxton, DeMotte, Fairbury, Hebron, Gibson
City, Momence, Fowler, Gilman, Kentland, Herscher, Clifton and
Milford.

Additional rainfall of at least 1 to 3 inches is expected over the
area, with locally higher totals for areas that receive multiple
thunderstorms. This additional rain will result in flooding and
could cause at least localized areas of flash flooding. Stay tuned
for possible flash flood warning issuances.
Expect flooding of creeks, ditches, canals, and storm sewers, as
well roadways, underpasses, farmland, and other poor drainage areas.

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
